damn it!
Caesar let out a low growl, unleashing a tremendous force from his arm. This force allowed him to successfully parry an orc's slash and also gave him an opportunity—he drew his pistol from his waist with the fastest speed he had ever seen, aimed it at the orc's head, and then pulled the trigger.
The plasma burst at such close range generated immense force that not only caused the orc's body to explode, but also sent Caesar flying backward. He crashed heavily to the ground, his internal organs suffering a violent shock. This caused him to lose consciousness for a moment, and in that instant, he saw the scene on the battlefield.
The orcs began their counterattack.
Caesar and his squad managed to hold off only a handful of orcs. Even with the presence of other companies and chapters of Astartes, they managed to stop only a few dozen powerful orcs. Caesar then witnessed the emergence of even more powerful orcs, who led the previously routed orc army like a green wave, clashing violently with the Imperial army outside the city walls.
Faced with these powerful orcs, the predominantly mortal imperial army could barely maintain its front line. Caesar struggled to his feet, knowing that until other Astartes reinforcements arrived, he and his brothers were the only ones who could hold off these orcs.
Never mind where these orcs came from; all he needs to do now is swing his sword and fend off the enemy.
With that thought in mind, Caesar began to run.
The chainsaw sword roared once more as its master swung it at an orc slaughtering the Kadians. Sensing the threat, the orc tossed aside the small shrimp hanging from his hand and immediately brandished his warhammer, engaging the charging shrimp in combat.
"Waghhh!"
"Alien! Die!"
Caesar roared as he saw one of his squad members tragically pierced through the chest by an orc. But there was no time for grief, or rather, on the battlefield, in the relentless war with the enemy, there was no room for sorrow.
revenge.
Only revenge.
Caesar pressed his attack again, attempting to repeat his previous tactic. He parried the warhammer, his free hand reaching for the explosive pistol at his waist.
He "succeeded" this time too; the bullet from the bomb gun successfully entered the orc's body. However, the orc's tenacious vitality prevented him from dying immediately. Instead, he roared and swung his warhammer once more.
"Goo!"
Caesar felt a much stronger impact than when he landed before, and this time he even coughed up blood. He fell heavily to the ground, his consciousness beginning to blur, at the same time hearing Lancelot's panicked shouts.
"Caesar!"
Lancelot no longer hesitated and swung his power sword with all his might.
His body was struck by the enemy, but the blow did not hit any vital organs. His blade cruelly pierced through his body, and the filthy orc flesh and blood slowly shattered within the disintegrating force field. With a roar, a large orc was thus split in two.
Steaming, foul-smelling entrails and flesh fell to the ground, splattering him with blood. But young Astartes didn't care about any of that. He ran and rushed to his fallen friend, completely ignoring his own bleeding abdomen.
"Caesar!"
Lancelot helped Caesar up from the ground and quickly drew his slug gun, taking out several orcs that charged at him and buying him a dozen seconds.
He removed Caesar's helmet, and the latter, after breathing in the fresh air, immediately tilted his head back and spat out a mouthful of blood.
"Caesar! How are you feeling........"
“Lancelot.........”
"Don't worry! I'll take you away right away!"
"Lancelot...go help...the other brothers..."
"Stop being so dramatic!"
Lancelot tried to lift Caesar, but the weight of an Astartes clad in power armor was far beyond his capabilities. After several unsuccessful attempts, he finally gritted his teeth, gripping his power sword in one hand and Caesar's chainsword in the other.
Flashes of electricity and the roar of chainsaws clashed as Lancelot stared at his enemy, his face darkening.
"Come on! You filthy aliens! Lancelot of the Star Claws is here!"
He successfully attracted the attention of the surrounding orcs, who rushed towards him, but with a gust of wind, all of these ordinary orcs were reduced to limbs and broken pieces on the ground and in the sky.
As Lancelot was indiscriminately slaughtering, he noticed a massive figure emerging from a gap in the city wall.
It was an outrageously large orc, which gave Lancelot the feeling of a Dreadnought he had only seen a few times.
That's... the leader of the orcs?
Before Lancelot could make a judgment, the earth began to tremble.
The city walls, torn apart by the imperial army's powerful firepower, automatically split open to both sides, and then several enormous war machines emerged from behind.
These war machines are over ten meters tall, with a wasteland-style body covered in steel pipes that are emitting black smoke. Anyone with a little knowledge of physics would know that their structure completely defies conventional physical rules.
But they are capable of movement, and not only can they move, they are also equipped with weapons that look incredibly ferocious and are extremely powerful.
This is an orc knight mech, the orc Titan Legion.
Lancelot swallowed hard. He remembered these things; not long ago, he had even seen troops destroy one using artillery and armor from a distance.
However, the feelings evoked by viewing up close and viewing from a distance are completely different.
If he remembers correctly... the name of this thing is Gangart.
Three Poison Blades raised their cannons and fired at the Gangart. However, their salvo became ineffective after successfully destroying the first one—the second Gangart immediately targeted them and launched missiles with strange patterns, turning them into scrap metal in a violent explosion.
The explosion kicked up smoke and dust, giving Lancelot an opportunity. He immediately returned to Caesar's side, grabbed him by the scruff of his neck, and prepared to drag him away.
"Lancelot... what are you doing...?"
"I'll save your life!"
"The rest of the squad..."
"I don't know! You better survive first!"
The orcs' counterattack was unexpected, and Lancelot had no time to attend to anything else. While dragging Caesar along, he repeatedly sent out distress signals over the channel.
Ten thousand Astartes are scattered across the battlefield, along with armored units. If we can make contact with them, then...
"SOS signal received."
A familiar voice rang out, startling Lancelot.
"I am Lynch, the Star Claw and commander-in-chief of the Allied Forces. I have received the message that all units should retreat in an orderly manner and hand over the battlefield to us and the knights."
The earth trembled once more. Lancelot looked up and saw a red-painted knight mech activate its chainsaw sword and rush towards the orc Gangart like a meteor.
At the same time, a man's fanatical declaration rang out on the public channel.
"Attention, orc! You are facing the exile of the Deikun family, the Blade of Freedom, son of the High King Zeon Shim Deikun, master of Sazabi, bringer of hope, slayer of aliens, vanguard leader of the Iris Knights, the victor! The light of dawn! The red comet! Char Aznable!"
Chapter 163 Admission
The Knight mech and Gangart clashed violently.
At the very first moment of contact, these steel monsters, averaging ten meters in height, unleashed the most intense commotion on the battlefield.
The earth trembled under their cannon fire, and mortals and orcs without adequate protection were nearly deafened by the deafening roar of the chainsaw swords.
When one side gains the upper hand and uses incredibly brutal methods to dismember the opponent, then throws the severed limbs into the sky, it can give the ordinary soldiers below a sense of familiarity, like that of a meteorite.
There were three Imperial Knights that came to reinforce us. Two of them were the common Sanctuary-type Ranger Knights, while the remaining one, named Crimson Comet, was a Valiant-type Ranger Knight piloted by Char Aznable.
In contrast, the enemy's Gangarts numbered nine in total. Furthermore, their size and firepower were comparable to the Imperial Knights.
A three-fold numerical advantage would make it an almost unwinnable battle for anyone.
Does this mean that the knights of the empire will be defeated as a result?
No, because besides performance, the human element is also an important factor in determining how much power a war machine can unleash.
"Lord Char!" The blue-painted knight mech, controlling its right arm's lightning-shaped gauntlet, viciously struck the cockpit of a Gangart. "There are too many of them!"
“I know!” Xia responded quickly, the Death Chainsaw Sword on his left arm spinning with a roar. At the same time, a sound like muffled thunder resounded from inside the enemy's machine, as if some lightning bolt was about to burst out from its illogical steel body.
"Buzz--!!!"
In an instant, the massive Death Chainsword crashed down. Several missiles painted with strange patterns flew out from behind Gangart. The missiles spun in mid-air before finally falling and striking the three knight mechs present.
"Maintain your balance!" Char shouted into the channel, the falling chainsaw clashing with Gangart's steel claws, sparks flying. "Guss! Activate the missile pod! Let these farmed orcs taste our power!"
"Received." A steady voice rang out in the channel. The knight mech positioned to Xia's right activated its arm-mounted rapid-fire combat cannon. The dense firepower and powerful ammunition forced the two Gangarts in front of it back.
Immediately afterwards, the knight's mech slumped downwards, and the Steel Storm missile pod on its back began to sing, controlling six missiles to rush towards the orc's mech.
Unlike the Imperial Knights, who at most staggered after being hit, the Gangarts, struck by missiles, suffered varying degrees of damage. One of them was even pierced through, causing the missile to explode internally and triggering a catastrophic explosion of the entire mech.
"Eight more!"
Gangart, standing in front of Char, gripped the left arm of Char's mech tightly. His terrifying brute force was on full display as the mech's automatic cannons rained down bullets. But even so, it couldn't stop Gangart from tearing Char's left arm apart with increasing force.
But at the same time, the knight's right arm was already aimed at Gangart's abdomen. The heat cannon had completed its charge, accumulating the power to kill his enemy in one blow.
"Die, orc," Xia whispered, a blinding white light emanating from the cannon muzzle. "I curse your soul to never rest."
The surging energy transformed into a white beam of light that shot from the cannon muzzle, and the intense heat melted Gangat's armor into a pool of molten iron in a mere instant.
The wailing of steel echoed across the land, and then, accompanied by a huge cloud of dust, Gangat, now broken in two, collapsed completely, the sound of its massive fall reverberating throughout the entire battlefield.
"Seven more!" Xia roared. "Ancestors above! For the Emperor! The Iris Knights! Charge!"
The steel giants clashed, while Char, along with two other knights, tried their best to take Gangart away from the other battlefield on the ground, so as to prevent the commotion of their battle from affecting that side.
A formation of Stormbirds and Thunderhawks streaked across the sky and hovered in mid-air.
Machine guns roared, unleashing a deluge of powerful bullets and missiles. The Imperial forces, initially at a disadvantage on the battlefield, were able to catch their breath after receiving fire support.
The mortal troops began to assemble under the command of the surviving senior officers, while the Astartes dragged their wounded or dead comrades back into the trenches that the engineers had dug in advance.
The hatches of the Stormbird and Thunderhawk slowly opened, and seeing the warriors behind them, the Imperial troops present all breathed a sigh of relief. If hearing the broadcast of support and seeing the arrival of the knights had given them a boost of confidence, then now, the huge weight on their hearts had finally been lifted.
So what's behind the hatches of the Thunderhawk and Stormbird?
The answer is the most elite members of Star Claw, the Glory Guard and veterans dressed as Hades Terminators and Iron Rider Terminators.
From the beginning, these people were not deployed to the battlefield by Lynch. So far, most of the elite forces active on the battlefield are from other chapters. The Star Claws, which have the largest number of troops and account for half of the total number of Astartes, have a similar number of elite troops deployed as the Flesh Rippers, which have the smallest number.
Now, the whereabouts of those elites have finally been fully revealed.
"Starry Sky Claw!"
Asford, clad in sophisticated power armor, roared into the channel. He leaped off the Thunderhawk, his greatsword crackling with electricity, creating a massive storm the moment he landed.
"A triumphant return!"
As the battle cry rang out, the remaining warriors leaped into the fray. The flashes of electricity from powered weapons crackled across every corner of the battlefield, and heavy flamethrowers and twin-barreled mortars turned orcs into indistinct, mangled pieces of flesh.
The beastmen immediately realized the power of these newcomers to the battlefield. They quickly changed their tactics, no longer scattering across the battlefield to fight the enemy as before, but instead gathered together to fight against the veterans and the Honor Guard.
Lynch stood on the Stormbird, without a helmet, relying on his naked eyes to observe the battlefield below.
