Chapter 154: The Golden-Eyed Threat

Chapter 154: The Golden-Eyed Threat

Andrey arrived at Lumy’s apartment building not long after. He took the elevator up to the third floor and knocked on the door of unit 3B.

A few seconds later, the door opened.

Lumy stood there wearing a simple, modest white button-up blouse and a dark pencil skirt. However, even though the outfit was formal, her large breasts strained noticeably against the fabric. The outline of her white lace bra was faintly visible through the thin material of the blouse, especially around the chest area.

She adjusted her glasses with one finger, her usual cold and serious expression in place.

"You’re alone?" she asked, voice flat.

Andrey nodded. "The others are resting. Where’s Hope?"

Lumy stepped aside to let him in. "She still has some urgent guild matters to handle. She said she couldn’t vome today, so she asked me to speak with you directly."

Andrey walked inside. The apartment was neat and minimalist, just like the last time. Lumy closed the door behind him and gestured toward the living room.

"Sit down. Do you want something to drink?" she asked.

"Tea is fine," Andrey replied as he sat on the sofa.

Lumy nodded and went to the kitchen. A few minutes later, she returned with two cups of warm tea and placed one in front of him. She sat on the single armchair across from him, crossing her legs. The movement made her blouse stretch slightly across her chest again.

Andrey took a sip of the tea, then looked at her seriously.

"So... what did you find about the golden-eyed man?"

Lumy adjusted her glasses once more, her sharp black eyes meeting his.

"I dug through several restricted databases and cross-referenced with some underground informants," she began, her tone professional. "There aren’t many people with naturally golden eyes. But I found one name that matches the description Elena gave you..."

She paused for a moment, her expression turning grim.

"His name is Vesper Kane. Formerly a high-ranking operative in a black-ops unit before the Cosmic Rift event. After the Rift, he disappeared from official records. But there are multiple sightings of him near artifact-related incidents over the past year. He’s suspected to be working with demons, possibly as a middleman or enforcer."

Lumy leaned forward slightly, her voice lowering.

"What’s more concerning... he’s not just collecting artifacts. He seems to be looking for something specific. Something bigger than just power."

She looked directly at Andrey.

"And from what I’ve gathered... your team might already be on his radar."

Andrey took another sip of his tea, his expression calm but serious. He wasn’t particularly surprised by the information.

"I already suspected something like that," he said. "The demons have been targeting us more aggressively lately. It makes sense that this golden-eyed man is connected to them."

Lumy stared at him for a moment, her sharp black eyes narrowing slightly behind her glasses.

"You’re being too calm about this," she said, her voice firm. "This isn’t just another demon operative. From the reports I’ve gathered, Vesper Kane is extremely dangerous. He’s skilled, ruthless, and has connections in both the underworld and demon circles. If he’s really after you and your team..."

She leaned forward slightly, her tone turning more urgent.

"...you should request official protection from the Hero Association. Or at least temporary escort. This could become a direct threat to your life, Andrey. Not just your team’s but yours specifically."

Andrey was quiet for a few seconds, processing her words. He set the teacup down on the table and looked at her directly.

"I appreciate the concern," he said. "But asking for protection right now might slow us down. We still need to stay active and gather more artifacts before the demons do."

Lumy sighed, clearly dissatisfied with his answer. She adjusted her glasses again, her large chest rising and falling with the motion.

"You’re as stubborn as Hope said you were," she muttered. "At least promise me you’ll be extra careful. If Vesper Kane really is involved, he won’t hesitate to kill."

Andrey gave a small nod.

"I’ll keep that in mind."

Lumy took a sip of her tea before continuing, her expression growing more serious.

"Vesper Kane’s ability is particularly dangerous," she said. "His golden eyes aren’t just for show. Anyone who makes direct eye contact with him for more than a few seconds will have their stats temporarily stolen, strength, speed, mana, even skill efficiency. The longer the eye contact, the more he can drain."

She paused, letting the information sink in.

"Worse than that... he can also freeze his opponent’s movements for a short time after draining them. It’s like their body becomes paralyzed while their power is being siphoned. That combination makes him extremely lethal in one-on-one fights."

Andrey listened quietly, his face calm but his mind working fast.

Lumy continued, "And there’s one more thing. He possesses a powerful artifact called Nocturne Dagger. It has the ability to cut through light itself, meaning it can sever energy attacks, beams, and even some light-based skills."

She leaned forward slightly, her voice low and warning.

"So you must be extremely careful. Don’t rely on eye contact. Don’t let him look at you directly for too long. And if possible, avoid letting him use that dagger on any of your long-range attacks."

Andrey nodded slowly, absorbing all the information.

"...Understood. That’s very useful. Thank you, Lumy."

Lumy adjusted her glasses and looked at him with a sharp gaze.

"I’ve already sent the detailed report to Hope as well. But I suggest you treat this Vesper Kane as a high-priority threat. He’s not the type who plays around."

Andrey nodded calmly after listening to Lumy’s explanation.

"I already suspected his ability was dangerous, but the details you gave are very helpful. I’ll make sure the team is more careful, especially about eye contact and that dagger."

Lumy observed him for a moment, then gave a small nod, seemingly satisfied with his response.

"Good. I was worried you’d be too reckless, but it seems you understand the threat level. In that case, I’ll—"

Suddenly, Lumy’s phone rang loudly on the table. She glanced at the screen, her eyebrows furrowing slightly.

"Excuse me for a moment," she said, picking up the phone and answering it. "Yes, this is Lumy Rinne."

She listened for a few seconds. Her expression, which had been serious but composed, suddenly changed drastically. Her eyes widened.

"What...?" Her voice sharpened. "A monster attack at Felix’s house? When did this happen? How many...?"
