Chapter 387 - 380: Sleep Soundly on Her for 2 Days and 2 Nights

"Autumn... she had extenuating circumstances. Besides, the reason she developed such severe depression was that our Seth didn’t give her enough of a sense of security. It wasn’t entirely her fault." Though Sienna Hale spoke up for Autumn Shelby, she clearly lacked conviction, and her voice grew quieter and quieter.

Theodore Quinn watched his wife’s reaction and couldn’t help but chuckle softly. "Setting aside whether her ’extenuating circumstances’ have even been verified," he said, "let’s talk about your second point. Why don’t you consider why Seth’s attitude toward her was so cold back then? Wasn’t it simply because he was never truly in love with her?

Sienna, let me ask you. Would you rather our son spend his life with someone he doesn’t love, or live happily with someone he’s truly in love with? Besides, if you don’t let Seth and Clara be together, what if he decides to never marry at all?

You have to realize, aside from Clara Grant, there isn’t a single woman out there your son is interested in. It’s taken him nearly thirty years to finally meet someone who makes his heart pound. If you’re really not worried about him, then go on, try and break them up."

Theodore Quinn said, shrugging.

"Of course I want my son to be happy, but..." Sienna Hale was starting to give in, yet she still couldn’t quite come to terms with it.

Theodore Quinn, however, wrapped an arm around her shoulder and smiled affectionately. "No more ’buts.’ Think back to when you married me. Weren’t your parents vehemently opposed? Yet you insisted on marrying me. So? I haven’t made you regret marrying me, have I?"

Hearing him bring up the past, Sienna Hale blushed and shot him a bashful glare. "That’s different."

"How is it different? Besides, if a man is afraid of marrying the wrong wife, isn’t a woman even more afraid of marrying the wrong husband? You took such a huge risk and chose to marry me in the end. Why don’t we take a chance on them now?"

Sienna Hale was at a loss for words. After a long pause, she finally gave a small nod.

’That Clara Grant... I can only hope. I hope she doesn’t disappoint Theodore’s expectations.’

Seth Quinn called a reliable contact in the U.S.A. to investigate Autumn Shelby’s medical records and files. Afterwards, he headed to the office.

He had just reached his office door when River Sterling and Linden Jennings came eagerly trailing after him.

Linden Jennings immediately piped up, "Hey, hey, hey, weren’t you taking Clara for the official meeting with the parents today? How are you back so soon? Is it done already?"

’They might be brothers, but he couldn’t just spill Clara’s private business.’

Walking into his office, Seth Quinn grunted in affirmation. "Mhm."

’Though, it does seem like the big meet-the-parents summit ended a little quickly,’ he thought. ’They should have at least had a meal together.’

But he didn’t dwell on it, instead choosing to tease, "You don’t need to be so dedicated to your work. River and I can hold down the fort. You should be taking Clara out on a date—dinner, a movie—and then going home to properly sleep... with... her for two days and two nights!

I mean, you just went public, you were apart for a bit, and Clara has to go back to her film set in a couple of days. You’re a healthy guy who’s just broken his dry spell; you shouldn’t be able to hit the brakes at all!"

Seth Quinn said nothing, but inwardly he smiled bitterly. ’I’d love to sleep with her for two days and two nights. Sleep with her until she can’t even get out of bed!’

’But he’d need the chance! Even if he didn’t mind a... bloody battle, he couldn’t bear to let her take that risk and suffer for it!’

’Especially after what had happened. She’d misunderstood him, said they were breaking up, and just took off!’
