"Really?" Lin Chen smiled. "I have your file here, and I think it shows your true skill level."
Lin Chen tapped a few times on his phone, then slowly read the contents aloud.
"Finger, von Frings, a ninth-year student at Kassel College, an A-class hybrid!~"
"Word of Power: Bronze Throne!"
"Advanced Course in the Study of Words, A!"
"Computer Technology, ranked first in the entire school!"
"First in the whole school in mathematics!"
"Magic Mechanics gets full marks!"
"Perfect score in shooting!"
"Perfect score in driving test!"
"Perfect score in combat skills!"
Upon hearing this, Fingel was trembling with fear: "Boss, it sounds like you're reading your own report card."
Lin shrugged: "Have you already forgotten who you used to be? With all these factors combined, you'd easily be rated S-level!"
Fingel scratched his head: "Boss, I admit what you said earlier, but to say that being rated S-class is more than enough is going too far. I don't have that ability!"
Lin Chen picked up his coffee: "Your Word of Power is the Bronze Throne, serial number 87. Although it has the word 'Bronze' in it, it has nothing to do with the King of Bronze and Fire. Your bloodline originates from the Black King Nidhogg, and you can even forcibly use it under the Vice Principal's Word of Power commandments. Do you know what that means?"
"You've investigated me thoroughly!" Fingel said quietly.
The vice principal is a genuine S-rank, and his Word of Power is extremely effective. Beings of lower or equal bloodline than him are simply unable to unleash Word of Power within his domain.
But Fingel can do it, and that alone is enough to explain a lot.
Even if Fingel isn't S-class, he's definitely an outstanding A-class student, a super A-class like Chu Zihang!
Lin Chen smiled and said, "There's nothing I can do. My bunkmate has so many secrets. If I didn't know anything, wouldn't it be too dangerous?"
“Absolutely not!” Fingel said. “Boss, let me tell you, I’m absolutely loyal. You’ve treated me to late-night snacks for so many years, I’ll definitely repay your kindness!”
"That sounds good, let's talk about our deal!"
"Alright then." Fingel scratched his head. "Boss, what do you want me to do?"
Lin Chen looked at Fingel: "Do you know I started a company?"
“I’ve heard about it,” Fingel said. “It seems to be quite big, the kind that makes millions in a minute. He’s already a big boss. Boss, with your wealth, I’m sure I’ll be getting my share of late-night snacks from now on!”
“Absolutely enough,” Lin Chen said. “You’re right, I’m a big boss now, but I’m short-staffed, especially excellent employees like you.”
Fingel was startled: "Boss, are you sure this is a deal? This is a job posting!"
"You can understand that!"
Fingel touched his nose: "I treat you like a boss, do you want to be my boss?!"
Lin Chen nodded casually: "You'd better make a choice before I finish this cup of coffee!"
Fingel gasped: "So hasty? I thought I had plenty of time to think it over. Besides, I haven't even graduated yet, I don't even have a university degree, I only have a high school diploma. Are you sure you want me?"
"When did you become so much like Lu Mingfei, spouting nonsense!"
“Hmm, okay.” Fingel thought for a moment, “Then I’d like to know some things about the job duties and compensation.”
"The mission is simple, it's nothing more than the usual stuff in the world of hybrids and dragons. As for the reward, just name your price, and you can ask for any treasures related to dragons. Maybe I can even get you a dragon bone cross!"
Fingel's mouth dropped open: "The Dragon King's skeleton, that's quite a generous offer! Even the principal couldn't offer Han Gao this much."
"You can't catch a wolf without risking your cub; you're worth the price," Lin Chen said.
Fingel remained silent.
Lin Chen silently sipped his coffee: "Is it worth agonizing over for so long? You have so many identities now, you don't need one more."
"So many identities?"
"The vice principal's top disciple, Principal Green's mole. There were many young people sitting in the conference room just now, but you are the successor handpicked by Han Gao!" Lin Chen said quietly. "Also, you are a survivor from the Greenland Sea, and you have always wanted to seek revenge on that ID called 'Prince'!"
Fingel jumped up from his seat, staring at Lin Chen's face in astonishment.
But Lin Chen simply sipped his coffee elegantly, as if they had just been talking about something related to the weather!
"How...how do you know everything!" After a long while, Fingel slowly sat down.
What Lin Chen just said, whether it was his achievements or his words of power, is all within the scope of investigation.
But now Lin Chen has revealed several of Fingel's identities, none of which are things that an ordinary Kassel student could possess.
Not to mention the events in the Greenland Sea, the details of which are top secret within the Kassel College!
Lin Chen continued, "Coincidentally, I'm also very interested in that ID called 'Crown Prince.' If the opportunity arises, I might even be able to help you get revenge. You know I can do it!"
"But what do you see in me? Aren't you afraid I'll cheat you out of your wages and not do any work? Or are you going to sign some kind of mixed-race contract with me?"
"None of that applies; the key is trust!"
"..."
Fingel was quiet for a while, then finally let out a long sigh.
“No wonder that old man Henkel had me keep an eye on you. You’re the most secretive person in Kassel College,” Fingel said. “I’ve been your roommate for three years, and I know your unfathomable strength and background, but I didn’t expect that I was still too cautious in my guesses. Just who are you?”
Lin Chen shrugged: "Actually, you're overcomplicating things. From beginning to end, I've just been a student at Kassel College. I don't have any ambitions; I just like cute and beautiful girls!"
"Then why are you saying all this?"
"Girls aren't everywhere. If you don't have enough ability, why would girls be interested in you!"
“He really is the boss!” Fingel raised his coffee.
Lin Chen and Fingel clinked glasses and then Lin Chen drank his coffee in one gulp.
"Now that you've finished your coffee, tell me your answer!" Lin Chen said.
“You won!” Fingel said. “The deal is worth 10,000.”
195: Making empty promises to employees! Six Flags roller coaster amusement park!
Lin Chen finished his coffee, stood up, and walked out of the coffee shop.
Fingel followed behind Lin Chen, hunched over and with his hands drooping, looking quite like Lu Mingfei's loser.
Lin Chen turned around to look at him: "Hey... as an employee I just signed, this is how you've managed to do things? I hired elites, not cleaning ladies."
"Boss... no, I mean, boss, I've always been like this, you didn't know that, did you?"
"Alright." Lin Chen waved his hand. "Go ahead, just don't slack off when it's time to get to work!"
Fingel's voice was languid: "I'll do my best!"
"It's difficult for me to pay you a salary if you're like this!"
"Huh?" Fingel was taken aback. "Didn't you just say you might be able to get me a Dragonbone Cross?"
“That’s true, but that’s the treatment after you become a full-fledged employee.” Lin Chen shrugged. “The Dragon Bone Cross, even Henkel couldn’t get it from Angers. You actually believe I can get it and are even willing to share some with you.”
“Hmm…of course I believe you on that point; you’re capable of killing the Dragon King.” Fingel scratched his face. “But does that mean I’m still…an intern?”
"That's right!"
Fingel's mouth gaped open: "So all that was just... empty promises? Boss, how could you do that?"
"You said I'm the boss, so it's reasonable for a boss to exploit his employees, right?"
"Um, is it too late to back out now?"
Lin Chen shrugged: "You can back out, but you know I know a lot of people. If I accidentally reveal your little secret while chatting with them..."
"Hiss—" Fingel gasped, "Boss, you're killing me with your spirit!"
"These days, how can you be a boss without some shrewdness?"
Fingel gave a thumbs up: "Okay, okay, forget about that, but you'll still get late-night snacks every night from now on!"
"This is standard employee benefit!" Lin Chen said.
"That's good, that's good!" Fingel patted his chest. "At least that's some consolation."
Lin Chen walked to the roadside: "Speaking of which, today is the first day of school. Why aren't you going to school?"
“I have some things to do,” Fingel blinked. “I’ll leave once I’m done!”
Lin Chen nodded.
Everyone has secrets, and Lin Chen was well aware of this.
Now that he has reached a cooperation agreement with Fingel, Lin Chen doesn't expect to make Fingel completely devoted to him in the short term.
Fingel is a very complex guy, and Lin Chen really wants to see just how far he can go.
Lin Chen waved down a taxi, turned around and looked at Fingel: "See you at school."
"Yes, boss!" Fingel thought for a moment and saluted Lin Chen. "I see that all of you flower growers do this."
"Not bad, quite standard, but I'm just your boss, not your superior."
