Chapter 15 Sudden Enlightenment Before Battle
Chapter 15 Sudden Enlightenment Before Battle
Every thought and intention is a cause, and every experience is a result. People are unaware of cause and effect, but cause and effect never spares anyone.
Shang Yun wanted Nan Wu to be his sparring partner and even demanded that Nan Wu go all out, so he deserved the beating. However, this beating also made him realize another of his shortcomings: he lacked a powerful burst-type ultimate move. As for the Kamehameha, Shang Yun had already learned it, but he felt it wasn't explosive or surprising enough. The Kamehameha became somewhat ordinary in the later stages because Goku and his friends trained by spreading their ki throughout their bodies and then concentrating it into a single point to attack when using a special move. This method was actually quite crude, as the ki gathered very slowly, requiring a long time to accumulate. Furthermore, the burst couldn't output too much at once because the ki was too slow, resulting in insufficient sustain.
Shang Yun cultivates the Prajna Heart Sutra, which cultivates the upper, middle, and lower dantian. He is currently at the stage of refining essence into qi, and is still cultivating the lower dantian, which is three fingers below the navel. Normally, his internal energy is stored in the dantian, and when needed, he can directly draw it from the dantian, which is faster and has a higher output rate. However, it still cannot change the predicament of insufficient true qi limit. What he needs is the ability to fight beyond his level. Fortunately, he has the Nirvana Enlightenment System and the Mahaprajnaparamita Heart Sutra. He only needs to learn the skills from it.
The two continued to fight fiercely, and Shang Yun gradually went from being suppressed to being able to fight back, sometimes even hitting Nanwu.
Shang Yun knew that his strength was inferior to Nanwu's under normal circumstances when he did not use the Vajra Prajna Power, but considering that he would encounter this situation many times in the future, he wanted to take advantage of his strong physical defense and see if he could comprehend a new combat technique.
In this situation, Shang Yun needs to be able to block the opponent's attack while also launching a powerful counterattack. Ideally, he should be able to unleash an attack with double the power, like the Kamehameha or the Special Beam Cannon.
With a direction, there is motivation. Shang Yun thought and fought back at the same time. Kelin and the others below the stage were a little confused: "Why has Shang Yun's attack slowed down again? He was able to counterattack several times just now. How come he can only fight back now and occasionally hits the target?"
"Yeah, what's going on?" Goku and Bulma asked, puzzled.
Yamcha looked at Shang Yun and the other person on the stage, seemingly lost in thought, without saying a word, and turned to look at Master Roshi playing Jackie Chan.
"Is it an epiphany? He's having an epiphany, and it's even an epiphany right before battle! This kid has quite the luck!" Master Roshi exclaimed in shock.
At this moment, Nanwu on the stage also realized that something was wrong with Shang Yun. Seeing that Shang Yun's eyes were glazed over and he seemed to be thinking about something, he wanted to jump out of the battle and ask about the situation.
"Namo, don't stop attacking! Shangyun is having an epiphany; he's probably creating a combat technique. He needs you to put pressure on him now." Master Roshi also saw Namo's plan and hurriedly shouted. This was an opportunity for his disciple, and he couldn't let it slip away. He knew that many people would never have such an opportunity in their entire lives.
Upon hearing this, Nanwu understood and thought to himself, "Good lad, he's truly blessed." He then focused all his attention on cooperating with Shangyun.
The audience below the stage couldn't see through the act and began to scoff that the two were putting on a show. Under pressure, the host tried to take out the microphone to remind the two on stage, but was stopped by Klin.
At this moment, Shang Yun's mind raced like lightning as he constantly mobilized his internal energy, trying to unleash attacks beyond his normal strength. However, after repeated attempts, he could only increase his power by about ten times at most, and that was when he was going all out. But the enemies in the future would be much stronger than him.
Just as Shang Yun was wondering what to do next, Nan Wu threw a straight punch. Shang Yun took a step back, turned around and deflected Nan Wu's fist. At the same time, he stretched out his right leg and kicked Nan Wu's foot. Nan Wu staggered and fell to the ground. It was because Nan Wu was careless. He was only focused on watching Shang Yun practice his moves and forgot to defend himself.
When Shang Yun saw Nanwu fall, a glint flashed in his eyes. He knew that using minimal force to overcome great strength was a skill he had learned in his past life. He knew that there were many techniques to defeat the strong with the weak, which could transfer the enemy's attack to the enemy, or even transfer it to the enemy and then add his own attack to it. These techniques included techniques like "Shifting Stars," "Great Shift of Heaven and Earth," "Transplanting Flowers and Grafting Trees," and Tai Chi.
And so, Shang Yun closed his eyes, thinking about these moves, as he was about to create moves for the Dragon Ball world.
Namo fell onto the stage, startled. When he realized what had happened, his face flushed red. He turned around and sprang to his feet, about to continue his attack, when Master Roshi's shout stopped him.
"Don't attack yet! Shang Yun is at a critical moment; he needs quiet," Master Roshi shouted urgently.
After hearing this, Namo also stood still.
At this point, Shang Yun had a general idea in mind, but he didn't know what the fundamental basis of this move should be. He didn't want to give up, so he silently recited the Heart Sutra.
When he read the phrase "all five aggregates are empty", Shang Yun felt a tremor in his heart, and he had an idea.
The "five aggregates" in "all five aggregates are empty" refer to form, feeling, perception, mental formations, and consciousness. All sentient beings in the world are composed of these five aggregates. "All five aggregates are empty" means that the five aggregates are impermanent, illusory, and without inherent existence. One should not be attached to them, thereby attaining liberation from suffering and transcending the cycle of birth and death.
In other words, everything is illusory, a mere illusion, all "emptiness." This creates a void spiritual domain around the body. Any attack that touches this domain will be broken down and dissolved, flowing into the domain. The separated energy can also be transferred to one's own hands before being unleashed. As for whether or not to absorb these abilities to enhance one's strength, Shang Yun doesn't consider it. Everyone's abilities have their own attributes, and even the energy unleashed is imbued with one's emotions—yes, emotions. Don't underestimate emotions; they can enable a person to unleash power beyond their wildest imagination.
Just like Sun Wukong's Super Saiyan transformation, which requires anger, and Yang Guo's Ecstasy Palm in The Return of the Condor Heroes requires sadness. The more and deeper these emotions are injected, the greater the increase in strength. However, these are not the right path. Not all emotions are good. Joy, anger, sorrow, grief, fear, and shock—each emotion can bring unexpected effects, but at the same time, they can also damage one's internal organs and vital energy. This is why Sun Wukong later died of heart disease. Anger easily attacks the heart, and this is one of the reasons.
Shang Yun cultivates "Zen," so he naturally doesn't need to rely on these emotions. At the same time, if Shang Yun loses his original mind because of gaining power, he won't need enemies; he will break his own state of mind and cripple his martial arts.
