Chapter 71 Subduing the Basilisk
Chapter 71 Subduing the Basilisk
For the next period of time, I followed Riddle around. I knew what he was looking for, but I couldn't give him any hints.
He browsed through numerous books in the library, searching for clues about the secret room.
He discovered some legends and speculations about the secret room, but there was no conclusive evidence to prove its existence.
However, Riddell did not give up.
He began searching for clues in every corner of the school, including the basement, the restricted section of the library, and the old classrooms.
He also spoke with some teachers and students, trying to get more information from them.
During his exploration, Riddle discovered some strange things.
He could hear some strange sounds and see some strange symbols and markings.
He began to suspect that these events were related to the locked room and decided to investigate further.
Finally, one night, Riddle and I found a snake head symbol in a sink in a girls' restroom at school. He focused his attention and made a sound he didn't recognize, and discovered that a hidden passage had been opened.
I just stayed silently by his side.
He went down the passage and eventually came to a huge cave.
Deep inside the cave, he discovered a huge door with strange snake symbols and markings carved on it.
Riddle realized that this was the legendary Basilisk Chamber.
"Tom Marvolo, are you really ready to open this door? Are you really ready to know everything?" In my understanding of my past life, I feel that Tom Marvolo Riddle started making one wrong choice after another from the moment he opened this door.
Is 15-year-old Tom Marvolo Riddell really ready for what's to come?
“Ayers, I want to know about my origins. I want to know everything.” Riddle really wanted to know everything now.
He wanted to know why he was an orphan and why his parents abandoned him.
"Tom Marvolo Riddell, I respect your choice."
I held his hand, which was trembling with nervousness as he held the wand.
“Open (Parseltongue)” Tom Marvolo Riddle stood in front of the door to the secret chamber, his heart pounding and his breathing becoming rapid.
His hand gripped the wand tightly, his eyes fixed on the ancient door.
He took a deep breath and then gently pushed the door open.
The door slowly opened, and a musty smell wafted out.
Riddle entered the secret chamber, and after his eyes adjusted to the darkness, he saw a vast space.
Upon entering the secret room, the first thing you see is a narrow passageway.
The walls of the passageway shimmered with green light, as if the eyes of a snake were watching you.
The passageway was covered with black stone slabs, which were engraved with strange patterns and symbols that gave people the creeps.
If you walk forward along the passage, you will come to a huge cave.
Hanging from the cave ceiling are some huge stalactites, which shimmer with a green light, as if snake venom is flowing.
The cave floor was covered with black stone slabs, which were engraved with strange patterns and symbols that gave people the creeps.
In the center of the cave stands a huge statue.
The statue depicts Salazar Slytherin, holding a wand whose tip glows with a green light.
The statue was surrounded by some huge snakes whose bodies shimmered with green light, as if they were guarding the statue of Salazar Slytherin.
Behind the statue is a huge stone gate.
The stone gate is engraved with the Slytherin symbol—a snake—along with some mysterious runes and spells.
Only those with Slytherin blood can open this door.
The moment I stepped into the secret chamber with Riddle, I became one with the dragon bloodline.
My Slytherin school robes transformed into a magnificent golden robe embroidered with exquisite dragon patterns, signifying my status and position.
A golden belt, inlaid with various precious gems, shimmered with dazzling light, was tied around his waist.
Behind it unfolded a pair of enormous golden wings, shimmering with dazzling light, as if they were made of gold.
When I spread my wings, the immense power and majesty I exude are truly awe-inspiring.
With a gentle flap of its wings, it can stir up a gust of wind, making people feel its power and inviolability.
A surge of power erupted from above, coalescing into a pair of crystal-gold dragon horns, each adorned with wisps of silver lightning.
Riddle was also surprised. He had never imagined that the person who adopted him would not be human. He looked at my attire as I stood in front of him.
“Keep saying something in Parseltongue, do whatever you want.” I won’t stop Tom Marvolo Riddell.
“Open (Parsnip),” Tom Marvolo Riddell walked over.
He spoke in Parseltongue in front of the statue of Salazar Slytherin.
When Riddle finished speaking, a small, round door opened from the mouth of the Salazar Slytherin statue, and then a hissing sound was heard, as if some enormous creature was emerging from that door.
As a huge snake's head slid out of that small doorway, I stood in front of Riddle.
“Master, you have finally appeared.” A deep voice came from the darkness.
Riddle's heart raced; he knew he had finally found what he had been searching for.
“Who are you?” Riddle asked again.
"I am the basilisk, the guardian of this secret chamber." The basilisk's voice was full of majesty.
A smile spread across Riddle's face. He knew he had found the secret treasure he had been searching for.
“What can you do for me?” Riddle asked.
“I can take you to Salazar Slytherin’s Chamber, if you provide me with food,” the basilisk’s voice was full of temptation.
Riddle was filled with longing; he knew this was his chance to realize his ambitions.
“I can provide you with food, but I need you to be my servant, I want to be your master,” Riddle said without hesitation.
“Very good, from now on you are my master.” The basilisk’s voice was full of joy.
A smug smile crept across Riddle's face. He knew he had taken the first step toward realizing his ambitions.
Riddle's ambition is truly captivating; no wonder Bella is so fond of him.
"Let's go. Remember to keep it under control and don't let it leave the Chamber of Secrets. The professors up there won't let it get away with it. There's no point in having a disobedient pet." He was specifically reminding Riddle not to cause another Myrtle incident, because Dumbledore would definitely be keeping a close eye on Riddle then.
But would this mean Hagrid wouldn't have to be expelled from school?
