Chapter 35: The Hammer's Second "Betrayal"
Chapter 35: The Hammer's Second "Betrayal"
A great war has begun!
Accompanied by the zombie queen's roar, an endless horde of zombies charged toward the last remaining living position, a dark mass like a moving cloud that almost obscured the sky.
Thor raised his warhammer high and leaped into the air. At this moment, the Mjolnir in his hand unleashed unparalleled power comparable to Stormbreaker!
The instant he landed, before his warhammer even touched the ground, arcs of electricity flowing from it shot into the earth. In an instant, countless lightning patterns spread wildly outwards from his body—of course, this attack was limited to the first wave of zombies in front of him.
Thor's initial attack, like a "cleaning master," instantly cleared a large area, leaving everyone stunned!
"Oh yeah!! I think we could all be cheerleaders!"
Spider-Man was the first to cheer. To be honest, after struggling in this apocalypse for so long, this was the first time he had felt so at ease. With such a strong ally by his side, it seemed like nothing was impossible!
Only when Lily and the other young female Avengers cast helpless glances at him did the young man sheepishly shut his mouth.
"They haven't been training for very long, John. I'd like you to lead them and hold the line."
Hanlu gave a deep command, her gaze sweeping across the battlefield, "Experienced Avengers, lead the charge! Break through their lines!"
There were still a large number of gigantic zombies moving towards them in the distance, and he knew he had to disrupt their formation before they got too close.
The Avengers nodded in unison, clearly understanding the current situation.
"I'll be the spearhead!"
Thor gripped his warhammer tightly, his figure transforming into a beam of light once more—this was not a metaphor; it was nighttime, the sky was overcast, and the only source of light was the rainbow-colored Infinity Stone light slowly flowing from Hulk's body behind him!
At the same time, Icarus was not to be outdone, following Thor in the same direction. The two of them, like horns, swept towards the horde of zombies ahead.
Icarus watched as the laser beams were unleashed with abandon, each beam slicing through the zombies and causing their flesh to burst open in a gruesome display.
Coupled with his handsome appearance and the blood splattered all over his body, if some dramatic background music were added, he could probably make an action blockbuster about a police squad.
Fortunately, they weren't killing living people, but zombies.
With these two powerful characters "clearing out" the enemy with a single click, Ant-Man, Moonblade, Spider-Man, and others behind them also began to frantically reap the rewards.
Spider-Man, in particular, swung freely through the zombie horde using his webs, and with the help of Ant-Man's telekinetic powers to levitate countless pebbles in the air as leverage points, he moved nimbly across the plain like a spider, while simultaneously casting countless webs to easily entangle and remove the heads of countless zombies!
"I'm so sorry, I'm really sorry, I apologize, but..."
Spider-Man muttered to himself as he worked, his tone full of helplessness.
"Peter!" Ant-Man shouted.
"Here!" Spider-Man replied immediately.
Ant-Man and Spider-Man worked together seamlessly, breaking the dense formation of the zombie horde.
This left the Valkyrie, who had wanted the two to be a little more "normal," somewhat helpless. But soon, she was also drawn into the fierce battle—the power of the dragon runes surged wildly throughout her body, making her look like a miniature "Captain Marvel"!
Her whole body shone with golden light, and like a small sun, she darted left and right among the zombie horde, and almost nothing could stop her attacks.
As the three fronts advanced frantically outwards, the battlefield situation underwent a dramatic shift. However, the Zombie Queen seemed unfazed and instead dispatched the next wave of troops.
In an instant, countless giant zombies, as large as mountains, appeared on the battlefield. One of them raised its hand and punched Icarus, who was frantically harvesting zombies, and sent him flying!
Just as Thor was about to lend a hand, countless ancient Viking warships suddenly flew out of the sky, equipped with laser cannons that were completely out of step with the times.
The laser cannon, firing at full power, instantly turned the area around Thor into scorched earth. Amidst the billowing smoke and dust, even Thor himself was thrown away by the blast wave.
Just as the Valkyrie was about to step forward to help, the ground beneath her feet suddenly cracked open, and several fish-like monster zombies emerged!
These creatures possess strength far exceeding that of ordinary humans, recklessly charging, tearing, and attempting to gnaw at the Valkyrie's limbs.
Fortunately, the Asgardians' skin was tough enough that she wasn't injured immediately, but it did put her in a prolonged fight for a while.
"Oh my god! They have not only ordinary zombies, but also giant zombies, Atlantean zombies, and even Asgardian zombies!"
Spider-Man, with his sharp eyes, immediately recognized the Viking warships floating in the sky—the Asgardian warriors who had previously followed Thor. Unfortunately, they had clearly been infected by the zombie virus and had now become the Zombie Queen's most powerful fighting force.
As Thor struggled to his feet from the barrage of blows, countless Viking giants, wielding battle axes, leaped from the sky, their target the head of their former king, Thor.
"No! This shouldn't be happening!!"
Thor watched in disbelief as his former followers turned on him with weapons. He swung his warhammer to defend himself, but held back, intending only to stop them, not to kill them.
Valkyrie Valentina, on the other hand, acted swiftly and decisively, smashing through a large group of Atlantean zombies in front of her with a single punch, and then kicking away an Asgardian zombie warrior charging towards her, shouting, "Enough! Thor, pull yourself together! Remember what you said? They're not what they used to be. We still have a chance. Now we must hold the defensive line!!"
The Valkyrie roared and fought fiercely, but just then, a gigantic zombie suddenly fell from the sky and stomped her into the ground!
As the giant zombie roared incessantly, a golden light suddenly erupted from beneath the Valkyrie's feet, shooting skyward and shattering the giant zombie's foot.
Taking advantage of the opportunity, the Valkyrie broke free and mercilessly punched the giant zombie in front of her, smashing it to pieces. She laughed loudly, "Hahaha, take this punch!"
As the Valkyrie soared into the sky, a horde of zombies rushed over, attempting to surround and kill their original king!
But then! Countless spider webs were unleashed like machine guns, tightly binding every zombie that tried to charge.
Taking advantage of the brief moment, Spider-Man nimbly kicked away an Asgardian zombie charging at him, then quickly pulled Thor to his feet: "Cheer up! We haven't lost yet! Even if we fight to the last man, as long as Hanlu is still here, we won't lose!"
Thor gradually came to his senses. Yes, as long as the Cold Dew still existed, they still had hope.
He felt ashamed that he needed a child to remind him of such a simple truth. He wiped the dust off his face and was about to pick up his weapon when he grabbed nothing.
But Spider-Man discovers that Thor's warhammer, Mjolnir, is right next to him.
Upon seeing this, Spider-Man unceremoniously picked it up and handed it to Thor.
This seemingly ordinary action might not seem special to Spider-Man, but for Thor, it made his eyes nearly pop out of their sockets.
"You...you lifted Mjolnir!"
Thor exclaimed in shock!
"What?" Spider-Man looked bewildered, clearly unaware of what this meant.
Before Thor could recover from the shock of "Warhammer betraying him," Valkyrie unleashed another golden energy beam, instantly reducing the horde of zombies in front of them to ashes.
"Gentlemen! Can you please help me out? Can't we talk about this after this fight is over?" the Valkyrie cried out, her voice filled with urgency.
Spider-Man nodded hastily like a chicken pecking at rice, then shot out a web and followed Ant-Man back to the battlefield.
Thor, clutching the sword Mjolnir that had "betrayed" him, could only sigh helplessly and choose to forgive...
Anyway, it's not the first time.
He could only focus his rage on his warhammer, smashing it down on every zombie that tried to attack him!
