Chapter 319: The Cycle of Fate, the Origin of the Universe
Chapter 319: The Cycle of Fate, the Origin of the Universe
The tremors of the universe gradually subsided, and the restored stars emitted a faint glow, as if everything had returned to calm. However, Ares, Selna, and Ulysses stood at the edge of the endless sea of stars, their unease and doubts lingering. Even though the core of chaos had been destroyed and the shackles of fate broken, they knew that a far more complex truth lay behind this universe.
"Have we truly been reborn this time?" Selna's voice was low and filled with confusion. The determination of the past was gone from her eyes, replaced by a deep questioning of the future.
Ares did not answer; his eyes remained fixed on the gradually clearing starry sky in the distance, a mixture of calm and turmoil within him. He knew that although they had defeated the shadow and broken the shackles of fate, it did not mean the end—on the contrary, it was only the beginning of a new journey.
“Perhaps we have been reborn, but the fate of this universe is still not in our hands,” Ares said in a low voice, his tone heavy with endless contemplation.
Ulysses sneered from the side: "Fate? What fate? Since we can break it, it proves that everything can be changed."
Ares turned to look at him, his eyes deep: "Changing fate is not an easy thing; it comes at a price. Today we have broken the chains of fate, but the future universe will no longer be as predictable as it was in the past."
Selna followed closely behind, walked to Ares' side, and crossed her arms over her chest: "You mean, breaking free from the shackles of fate only reveals another side of the universe?"
Ares nodded: "Yes, we may have opened a door to a new world, but who knows what lies behind that door? What we are facing now is not only the rebirth of the universe, but also the true power hidden beyond destiny."
The three silently gazed at the universe before them, gradually realizing that although they had gained a moment of peace, the hidden power had not yet disappeared.
As they were lost in thought, a faint tremor suddenly emanated from some corner of the universe. Although this tremor could not compare to the previous chaotic fluctuations, it brought with it a chilling aura, as if some power hidden deep within the universe was quietly awakening.
“This is…” Selna’s eyes narrowed slightly, “Where does this power come from?”
Ares frowned, his intuition telling him that this power was anything but simple. "This power... seems to be the resurgence of some kind of being," he murmured. "And it doesn't come from the shackles of fate we broke."
Ulysses turned, his gaze sweeping towards the distant dark abyss: "You mean, there are still some hidden entities that we haven't yet encountered? They are still waiting for their chance?"
“That’s right.” Ares’s gaze turned unusually serious. “The universe we see is not as peaceful as it appears. The shackles of fate have been broken, but new forces are quietly emerging. Those guardians who once existed outside of fate may be rising again.”
Suddenly, the three heard a clear voice echoing in the empty universe.
"You have broken the shackles of fate and changed the future of the universe, but you have not truly understood the essence of fate." The voice was full of pressure, yet without a trace of anger, as if it were the narrator of the universe itself. "Your rebellion is both rebirth and abyss."
Ares whirled around, the sound seemingly coming from all directions, transcending the boundaries of time and space. The void around them began to distort, and the fragments abandoned by fate began to coalesce, reborn into a new form.
“This is…” Selna looked ahead in surprise, “Could it be…”
“The force beyond fate has finally revealed itself,” Ares said in a low voice. “This is the truth we never expected.”
The three gradually retreated, preparing to face the approaching unknown enemy. At the same time, that deep voice rang out again, carrying endless majesty and loneliness.
"The cycle of fate was predetermined. You changed the rules of fate, but you also dug your own abyss. Your existence has been controlled by forces outside of fate."
Right behind them, the source of the voice suddenly appeared—a colossal phantom rose from the darkness. Its form was indistinct, seemingly composed of countless distorted timelines and spatial fragments, like a part of the universe, yet not entirely the universe.
"What exactly are you?" Ares gripped the hilt of his sword tightly, a cold glint in his eyes. "You say we changed fate, but what are you? Are you the true master of fate?"
"The master of destiny?" The phantom's voice carried a hint of disdain. "Destiny is not controlled by any 'master.' It is the foundation of the universe, the result of countless possibilities intertwined. I am a power unknown to you, existing outside of destiny, waiting for you 'rebels.'"
“Rebels?” Ulysses sneered. “You think we are rebels? No, it is you who have truly bound the future of the universe. Your so-called destiny is nothing but a prison!”
The phantom seemed deaf to any explanation, its form constantly shifting, radiating an irresistible sense of oppression. Ares suddenly understood: "Its existence is not to destroy fate, but to completely control everything. The universe we see has always been a mystery beyond fate."
The phantom suddenly expanded, as if an invisible force was pressing down on the surrounding space, making the air feel heavy. Its gaze turned to Ares, seemingly scrutinizing everything about him.
"Do you think that by breaking the chains of fate you can gain true freedom?" Its voice was deep and oppressive. "Everything you have done is to open the door to a new order for me."
Ares's eyes gleamed, his vigilance growing stronger: "What do you want to do?"
"You have opened that door, and I will be the new rule of the universe." The phantom's tone was calm, yet carried unparalleled majesty. "I will become the judge of the universe, controlling the destiny of all."
"No! We will never let you have your way!" Ares roared, and suddenly swung his sword, the sword energy exploding like thunder towards the phantom.
The phantom did not dodge; instead, it reached out and swung its hand. As it did so, the laws of time and space were instantly distorted, and Ares's sword energy was blocked as if by an invisible barrier, unable to advance even half a step.
“Fate cannot be resisted.” The phantom spoke softly. “Your resistance, no matter what, will only hasten your demise.”
"Then let me try and see how far resistance can go!" Ares gritted his teeth, his resolve growing stronger. He leaped up, unleashing his sword energy and releasing his most powerful force.
Suddenly, space distorted once more, and the core of the entire universe erupted with immense energy. Ares's sword energy shook the surrounding void like thunder, and he felt an indescribable power permeating through it, as if the very rules of the universe were violently trembling.
"What...what is this?" Selna's voice was filled with astonishment. "This power is so strong!"
“We must continue to fight,” Ares said through gritted teeth, a determined glint in his eyes.
