Chapter 21 There's a mole within S.H.I.E.L.D.
"You mean there's a mole within S.H.I.E.L.D.? That's impossible."
Steve sat on the sofa, looking at the scene outside Stark Industries, unable to believe what Tony had just said outside.
"The facts are right in front of us."
Tony brought a test form and placed it in front of Saint Lord and Steve.
Checklist for Unknown Substances.
The Holy Lord looked at the test chart in his hand, which included test items such as material, hardness, appearance, sharpness, density, and heat resistance.
The material section shows "unknown".
"The unknown material is harder than any known metal, but its density is surprisingly low. Clearly, it is not a material from Earth."
Tony placed the dart on the table between the two of them.
The dart looked ordinary. Tony brought a piece of paper close to the dart, and the paper was sliced through by the dart as if it hadn't touched anything.
"Very sharp," Steve commented from the side.
Tony looked at the Holy Lord: "Indeed, someone is using you as a pawn."
Steve, standing to the side, was a little confused; he didn't understand what Tony meant by that.
Tony gave Steve a brief explanation, but omitted the part about the talisman.
"Is there really a mole within S.H.I.E.L.D.?" Steve still found it hard to believe.
Stark looked toward Manhattan, which was still recovering: "I found it strange at the time that the portal would close for no reason. Loki was still in the lead, and there was no reason for him to use his scepter to close the portal."
"It's not actually a retreat, but rather sending some Zeta Swiss soldiers into S.H.I.E.L.D. to dismantle it from within, and then launch another attack?" Steve quickly concluded.
"That possibility cannot be ruled out."
Tony agreed with Steve's assessment: "And Loki was also teleported away by the Tesseract. Although Thor returned to Asgard, we don't know the specifics of the situation there."
Listening to their analysis, the Holy Lord could only nod in agreement.
"An internal review needs to be conducted within S.H.I.E.L.D."
The two reached this conclusion after a short discussion.
"Go and contact Fury. This is an internal matter for S.H.I.E.L.D. Stark Industries still needs me, so I shouldn't interfere too much."
Tony handed Steve a card: "This is the access card for one of my private labs. They're currently researching that dart here. If S.H.I.E.L.D. needs data, they can go there anytime."
After Steve left, Shendu and Tony went to another laboratory.
The strong smell of disinfectant was everywhere, and test tubes were scattered all over the place, some of which contained red liquid.
The Holy Lord could feel the resonance between those liquids and his own body.
"As you can see, this is a laboratory built specifically for you."
Tony raised his hands and introduced the equipment here to the Holy Lord: "By the way, will using that so-called talisman to change your form have any effect on your blood?"
"That's the effect of the tongue given by Quill," the Holy Lord corrected. "The change in form has little effect on the blood in the body itself."
Tony waved his hand: "It doesn't matter, whether it's a talisman or the stone Quill gave me, as long as it doesn't affect my research."
Tony gestured for the Lord to sit down and extended his arm.
Tony pulled out a syringe about the thickness of a thumb from the side: "Don't worry, it's been disinfected."
While drawing Shendu's blood, Tony asked, "What's your opinion on the mole within S.H.I.E.L.D.?"
The Holy Lord looked at the increasingly full syringe and said, "What can I think? What emotions can I have besides anger? After all, I was the one being used as a pawn."
Tony put away the syringe and placed the blood into a testing device: "The testing will take a week, and I'll be staying here for the next while."
The Holy Lord raised an eyebrow slightly: "Why are you telling me this?"
Tony didn't answer. Instead, he handed Shendu an identity card: "This is a high-level SHIELD certification card. I'm very interested in the material of that dart and need more."
"You want me to help you find that mole?"
Tony lay back in a chair and said, "No, I'm only interested in the materials for that dart. You just need to get the materials for me."
"Why should I help you? What benefit would it bring me?" the Holy Lord asked.
Tony, looking confident and composed, said, "As I said before, I'll be staying here for the entire week. During this time, I won't be involved in any events within S.H.I.E.L.D., and Stark Industries' facilities within S.H.I.E.L.D. will also experience problems during this period."
The Holy Lord remained unmoved: "Is this what you call a benefit?"
Tony had anticipated Shendu's question. He sprang up from his chair and stepped forward to approach Shendu: "Mr. Valon, I know you're not a good person. We've just been using each other."
"You know that without Stark Industries' assistance, security procedures within S.H.I.E.L.D. would be much less stringent, allowing you to accomplish even more."
"You don't care about S.H.I.E.L.D.?" Shendu asked.
Tony's tone was disdainful: "From the moment S.H.I.E.L.D. dropped a nuclear bomb into the crowd, I lost all goodwill towards them. At least you protect humanity."
Tony looked at the machine that was still being tested: "Compared to S.H.I.E.L.D., you are a better collaborator for me, even though I know you have ulterior motives."
The Holy Lord listened to Tony's explanation as if he had heard a joke. Demons, protecting humanity? It was only necessary at the time.
"After all, in my original world, a demon ruled there, and I belong to the human side." The Holy Lord suppressed the smile in his heart and said with righteous indignation.
"Very good, it seems I chose the right partner." Tony was satisfied with the Lord's answer.
SHIELD.
Fury frowned as he looked at the documents Steve handed him.
Agents within S.H.I.E.L.D. undergo rigorous screening and a series of brainwashing processes before becoming official agents, making it theoretically impossible for a mole to exist within the organization.
But now, Steve has presented him with evidence, leaving him no choice but to believe it.
"Was that dragon's back used as a weapon?" Fury still remembered Shendu's performance in the Battle of New York. Without him, that nuclear bomb would have caused even greater damage.
"Yes."
Steve handed over another file folder: "Based on my observations these past few days, Valon is not hostile to humans; on the contrary, he may even be an asset to us."
"They are not hostile to humans and may even be an asset to us," Fury repeated.
Fury seemed to have figured something out, and clapped his hands, saying, "It's obvious they don't want Valon to join us, and even want Valon to be our enemy."
"Sowing discord!" Steve added from the side.
"How insidious. We don't know what technology the Chitauri used to plant a traitor among us, not to mention they have Loki," Fury said, looking at the documents in front of him. "No wonder they are the God of Mischief."
"Get ready," Fury said firmly, "S.H.I.E.L.D. will be undergoing a major overhaul in the coming period."
