Chapter 144 Breaking the situation
Chapter 144 Breaking the situation
When Wei Hongsi and a group of senior executives came out of the president's office, it was already past six o'clock in the afternoon.
He first returned to his office and checked the monitoring and diagnostic results of the police's commissioned services.
At this point, the monitoring data of the last batch of patients had been collected, and the data analysis work had just begun. It would take some time before the diagnostic results could be obtained.
Wei Hongsi took out his phone from the drawer and called Zhang Shengyong. He learned that Zhang was being taken to dinner, so he went downstairs to the restaurant to have dinner with Officer Zhang.
The two only met once that morning when the first group of patients arrived, exchanging a few brief words. Subsequent work proceeded as planned, and Wei Hongsi did not directly intervene again.
The police were the clients for this business, and Zhang Shengyong and other police officers were treated like clients, being arranged to dine in a small private room.
When Wei Hongsi went there, Li Xuan was waiting outside. She greeted him with a smile and led him to the private room.
When Ji Cheng sent someone over for diagnosis, it was Lu Jiaqi's team that handled the coordination. This team had accumulated relevant experience and had some connection with this case, so they were assigned to assist with the work.
There were four people sitting in the private room: three police officers and Lu Jiaqi. Wei Hongsi greeted them briefly and sat down next to Zhang Shengyong.
Li Xuan sat near the door, helping the restaurant staff serve dishes and turn tables, and also refilling rice and pouring water for everyone.
After listening to their account of the day's events, Wei Hongsi said, "We'll have to trouble President Lu to work overtime a little longer tonight."
"It's nothing." Lu Jiaqi waved her hand, then asked with a smile, "Officer Zhang, there are only a few of us here. Can you tell us who's coming tonight?"
Zhang Shengyong said, "It's Ran Tong and Meng Cai."
These two are public figures who will be coming for a diagnosis tonight. Lu Jiaqi will be in charge of making the arrangements, and there's nothing to keep secret.
"Wow!" Lu Jiaqi exclaimed, "They're all big names."
Wei Hongsi didn't recognize the two names much and asked, "Very famous?"
Zhang Shengyong asked in surprise, "You don't watch TV or watch short videos?"
Wei Hongsi nodded and said, "Very few."
He remembered watching a lot of cartoons when he was a child and never really interested in TV dramas. After entering high school, he almost never watched TV, only occasionally watching movies.
As for short videos, he only watches them occasionally to research content; he doesn't use them for daily entertainment. He studies algorithms and therefore dislikes having his preferences dictated by algorithms, thus avoiding creating an information cocoon for himself.
Lu Jiaqi smiled and gave Wei Hongsi a brief introduction.
Ran Tong debuted as a child star and became widely known in her teens for her role in a family sitcom. In recent years, she has starred in two hit dramas and has gained the fame of a top-tier celebrity.
Meng Cai is a star anchor at Yuecheng TV, mainly broadcasting current affairs news. She has over 20 million followers on short video platforms and frequently creates videos with over 100 million views, making her especially influential locally.
After listening, Wei Hongsi looked at Zhang Shengyong and asked, "Have you noticed the problem?"
Zhang Shengyong knew what he meant and shook his head, saying, "At least not yet."
Wei Hongsi nodded slightly.
These two public figures are likely pre-developed communication channels for the Light Guide Association.
If CMS or similar AI systems are controlled by the Guiding Light Society, they can spread "psychological viruses" through the short video accounts of these public figures, reaching tens of millions of people in a very short time.
This led him to another question, which he asked: "When you're scrolling through short videos, how many times do you usually watch interesting content or content posted by your idols?"
Lu Jiaqi said, "It'll only be once, at least I won't do it again."
Li Xuan nodded: "Me too, die-hard fans might refresh it several times."
Wei Hongsi then looked at the others, and Zhang Shengyong and the other two police officers gave similar answers.
Wei Hongsi pondered for a moment, then said to Zhang Shengyong, "Get me some data on this."
"It will probably take some time."
"Then please ask the team leader to help coordinate."
Zhang Shengyong thought it made sense; it would be much easier to handle this matter through Director Liang's channels. He nodded and said, "Okay."
Lu Jiaqi and Li Xuan had noticed before that the three policemen treated Wei Hongsi quite differently.
Zhang Shengyong and Wei Hongsi were acquaintances; the former was considerably older, and the two chatted like brothers. However, when it came to what seemed to be "serious business," Zhang Shengyong adopted a submissive attitude, while Wei Hongsi, though verbally offering to "help" and "please," was essentially giving orders.
The other two policemen were not just superficially polite to Wei Hongsi; they seemed to show him a degree of respect as well.
This was indeed a bit strange, but they didn't ask any questions. They just turned the table around to serve the dishes and did their own thing.
What they didn't know was that Wei Hongsi and Zhang Shengyong had always interacted this way, mainly because they were so familiar with each other that there was no need for formalities. Wei Hongsi's words made sense, and they concerned serious matters, so Zhang Shengyong naturally listened and followed them.
The other two police officers were members of the task force, and Wei Hongsi was a specially invited expert of the task force. Director Liang and Director Shi both treated him with great respect, so how could they dare to neglect him?
After they finished their meal, Wei Hongsi invited them to his office to rest for a while and discuss the arrangements for their follow-up treatment.
At this point, the diagnostic data for the last batch of patients came out. Wei Hongsi looked at the summary and found that a total of 121 people had been diagnosed with "mental pollution".
This number was roughly in line with his estimate before the meeting that afternoon, and he already had a plan in mind for how the project team would arrange the treatment. However, sending patients to their homes would require coordination from the police, and he also asked Lu Jiaqi's team to assist in ensuring a smooth transition.
After finishing their work-related conversation, the group chatted for a while. Wei Hongsi then received a call from Wu Wenjun, who asked where he was and said that President Dai wanted to talk to him about something.
Wei Hongsi said, "I'm at the company. Should I go up now?"
Wu Wenjun said, "Oh, then let's meet in the lobby on the first floor in ten minutes."
Wei Hongsi felt a little strange, but didn't ask any further questions. After hanging up the phone, he said to Zhang Shengyong, "Brother Yong, I have to go out for a bit."
Zhang Shengyong waved his hand: "You go about your business, don't worry about me."
Lu Jiaqi said, "Yes, I'm here, don't worry."
Wei Hongsi smiled and nodded, then explained the monitoring and diagnosis to Yuan Zhenhui before taking his belongings and leaving.
He took the elevator to the lobby on the first floor. After waiting for a short while, a black sedan stopped at the entrance. The driver got out of the car and walked into the lobby. When Wei Hongsi saw that it was Liu Zhifeng, he went to greet him.
The two greeted each other, and Liu Zhifeng invited Wei Hongsi into the car, which then drove away from the Zhiwei Technology Building.
