Chapter 661 Elite Club
In the principal's office, the afternoon sun streamed through the large floor-to-ceiling windows, casting warm dappled light on the polished floor.
The air was filled with the tranquil scent of old books and solid wood furniture.
In contrast to this tranquility, the three young visitors standing in front of the large desk exuded an almost overflowing tension and curiosity.
Natsume sat behind his desk, his fingertips lightly tapping the surface, his gaze calmly sweeping over the three youthful yet distinctive faces before him.
The boy standing on the far left, around fourteen years old, had slightly messy blond hair, and a pair of thick, round-framed glasses that almost covered half of his face. Behind the lenses, his light blue eyes shone with a light that was somewhere between intense focus and slight unease.
He was wearing a slightly wrinkled white lab coat, which was obviously too big, with the cuffs rolled up several times. There were also traces of machine oil on his hands. He exuded the typical air of an inventor who was immersed in his own world.
"Excuse me, does this outfit look like it's from our research institute?"
Natsume raised an eyebrow slightly, scrutinizing the inappropriate clothes on Citron.
"Uh...this, this..." Citron's eyes began to dart around frantically.
Natsume looked at the other person with a smile.
After discovering that these three people had come to his academy for some unknown reason, he specifically checked the surveillance footage.
Upon investigation, he discovered that Citron had been secretly "borrowing" the research institute's laboratory.
"That's alright." Natsume paused in tapping the table.
"It seems like you've never attended a class?"
"My brother doesn't need to take those classes anymore. If he didn't come to the academy, he could have inherited the Luna City gym."
Right next to Citron, half a step behind him, peeking out with only her small head, was his sister Yurika, who was defending him.
The little girl was probably only six years old. She also inherited her family's blond hair, which was tied in a bun. Her big, round eyes were filled with curiosity about this unfamiliar environment and a little bit of shyness.
She had a small bag with a dummy mouse pattern slung across her back, and her little hands were tightly gripping the hem of her brother's white coat, as if it were her safety rope.
"Is that so?" Natsume glanced at the brother and sister, then looked at the distance.
Standing slightly to the right was a girl with a completely different temperament.
Her long, chestnut-gold hair cascaded smoothly over her shoulders. She wore an elegant beret and a well-tailored plaid dress, making her appear very ladylike and demure.
She was Serena, her lips slightly pursed, her hands nervously clutching the hem of her skirt, her light brown eyes filled with obvious tension, yet she still tried her best to maintain a proper demeanor.
These three people, who are very different in age, temperament and interests, were summoned to the office that represents the highest authority in the academy, and were filled with the same doubts and apprehension.
They would steal glances at each other from time to time, their eyes meeting with a questioning look that seemed to say, "You too?", but they would quickly look away when Natsume's gaze swept over them, straightening their backs even more.
"Ahem," Natsume cleared his throat, breaking the silence. His voice was exceptionally clear in the quiet office.
"Don't be nervous. I called you here today because I have something to tell you."
He paused, his gaze sweeping over the three faces again, and slowly said, "I've decided to form a special group called the Sunshine Academy Elite Club. And you three are the first members selected."
"Elite Club?" Citron subconsciously pushed up his thick glasses, and his eyes behind the lenses lit up instantly, forgetting most of his nervousness.
Serena's eyes widened slightly, showing some surprise, but more so a sense of honor at being chosen.
Yurija tilted her head, seemingly not fully understanding what the "Elite Club" meant, but it seemed very impressive.
Natsume continued, "The growth path of elites is naturally different from that of ordinary students. You will receive a lot of extra support from the academy."
"Correspondingly, the graduation requirements will be more stringent and specific."
As soon as he finished speaking, Citron seemed to suddenly remember something extremely important. He abruptly raised his head, his previous restraint completely replaced by a frenzy and urgency. He almost blurted out, his voice trembling with excitement, "Th-that! Mr. Natsume! Excuse me... excuse me, if the graduation standards are too difficult and I can't graduate... or if I deliberately fail to meet the standards, can I still stay here to study?!"
His gaze had uncontrollably drifted to the window of his office, where the outlines of the research institute buildings were faintly visible in the distance. His eyes were filled with endless longing, as if that were the paradise he had always dreamed of.
Natsume:
'
'
An eerie silence fell over the office.
Serena couldn't help but cover her mouth, looking at Citron in astonishment at his shocking words.
Even Yurika, hiding behind him, blinked her big eyes and muttered softly, "Brother is saying weird things again."
'
Natsume looked at the young inventor in front of him, who was clearly lost in his reverie about the holy land of scientific research, and his lips twitched almost imperceptibly.
"In that case, your graduation requirement is to complete a Rotom-related project independently."
Natsume paused, then continued, "As a form of support, I will arrange for researchers to teach you the relevant matters, and you will be able to use the laboratory openly and legitimately."
The moment the words left his mouth, Citron visibly became excited. His face flushed red, and he stood there at a loss for what to do. In the end, his body trembled and he collapsed.
Natsume:
'
'
Are you that excited?
"elder brother!"
Yulijia quickly stepped forward and supported Citron's back.
Then they realized it was too heavy.
"Forget it, embarrassing brother, go ahead and throw it."
"Bang!"
Citron lay on the ground, a smile playing on his lips.
"You two."
Natsume suddenly turned his head and looked at Yurika and Serena.
The two immediately tensed up.
Natsume raised his hand, and two small beads appeared in his palm.
"This is the Taijing Bead."
Natsume handed the beads to the two of them.
"The Academy will send you to this year's Galilean Conference and Carlos Conference."
Natsume nodded to himself as he spoke.
The best way to quickly promote a new battle system is to use it to challenge the old ones.
Coincidentally, the Carlos region is dominated by the super-evolution system.
The Galar region is dominated by the Dynamax system, which is perfect for your trainees to "challenge" other teams.
"Oh... so my graduation requirement is to achieve a good ranking in this competition?"
Yulijia fiddled with the crystal beads in her hand, her face showing distress.
Her only Pokémon right now is the Charmander she chose when she enrolled in school.
Aside from training sessions, she has almost never played against anyone.
"No, you don't have many Pokémon yet, so your graduation mission is just to catch Pokémon."
Natsume did not make things difficult for Yurika.
"This should be something you can accomplish within a few years."
Yulijia nodded blankly; it did sound easy enough.
"So, what kind of Pokémon do I need to catch?"
Yuli Jia felt that the dean in front of her was kind and approachable, and couldn't help but look up and ask curiously.
"It's simple, just get Zygar." Natsume slammed his hand on the table.
"Um?"
Yurika looked up, bewildered, at Natsume.
Is that the one from their Carlos region legends?
