Chapter 136: Filming Begins for "My Love from the Star"
Chapter 136: Filming Begins for "My Love from the Star"
Early October in Beijing is a time of clear skies and crisp autumn air.
The opening ceremony for "My Love from the Star" was held in a cultural and creative industrial park in Chaoyang District.
The production team rented an entire floor here and built the female lead's apartment and the male lead's study—the two main interior sets.
At nine o'clock in the morning, Fu Yibai's car drove into the park.
Liu Yan sat in the passenger seat, flipping through the flowchart on the tablet.
"President Fu, the opening ceremony will begin at 10 o'clock."
More than twenty media outlets arrived.
Fu Yibai nodded without saying anything.
The car stopped in front of the building, and he got out.
Banners have been put up in the park, and a red carpet has been laid from the entrance all the way to the elevator.
Staff members were busy moving around, and as soon as they saw his car, someone ran in to report it.
As soon as Fu Yibai stepped onto the red carpet, a group of people came out of the building to greet him.
Wang Peng was walking at the front, followed by several assistant directors and production managers.
"Mr. Fu."
Wang Peng strode forward and lowered his voice.
Everything is ready.
Tang Yan and the others are already upstairs getting ready. Hu Ge arrived last night and looks great.
Fu Yibai nodded and continued walking inside.
The elevator went up and stopped on the sixth floor.
The door opened, and a bright and spacious view appeared before us.
The entire floor was booked by the film crew.
The apartment directly opposite the elevator is the female protagonist's apartment.
The room features an open layout, floor-to-ceiling windows, and a modern minimalist style. Several abstract paintings hang on the walls, cushions adorn the sofa, and fashion magazines sit on the coffee table.
Fu Yibai walked in, his gaze sweeping over every corner.
The art director followed behind, his tone tinged with trepidation.
"Mr. Fu, look at the results..."
Fu Yibai stood in the center of the living room, his gaze fixed on the view outside the floor-to-ceiling windows.
Outside the window is the park's artificial lake, where the autumn sunlight shines on the water, creating shimmering patterns.
"The view outside the window is nice."
He turned around and looked at the cushions.
"Changing the color of the throw pillow is too flashy."
Keep it low-key and match the overall style.
The art director nodded immediately.
"Understood, I'll change it right away."
Fu Yibai continued walking inside and pushed open the bedroom door.
The bedding was already laid out; it was a simple gray and white color scheme. On the bedside table sat a lamp and a book.
He glanced at it, said nothing, and turned to leave.
Next to it is the male protagonist's study.
The walls are covered with bookshelves, a solid wood desk, a leather armchair, a floor lamp, a globe, and some antique-looking ornaments.
Fu Yibai stood in front of the desk, his fingers tracing across the surface.
"There's too much stuff on the table, let's simplify it."
He paused, then added, "Find a few decent ancient books on the bookshelf and put them there, don't just put up props."
The production manager nodded and made a note of it.
"Okay, Mr. Fu."
After surveying the scene, Fu Yibai headed towards the dressing room.
Laughter came from the end of the corridor; it was Tang Yan's voice.
He pushed open the door.
In the dressing room, Tang Yan was sitting in front of the mirror, and the makeup artist was making final adjustments to her.
She wore a light blue dress, her long hair was styled in big waves, and her makeup was exquisite. She looked a few years older than her actual age, but she still retained a youthful vivacity.
When I saw her in the mirror, my eyes lit up instantly.
"Mr. Fu."
She tried to get up, but Fu Yibai waved her hand.
"Sit down."
He walked behind her and looked at her in the mirror.
"You're in good shape."
Tang Yan smiled, her eyes crinkling, but because there were other people in the dressing room, she didn't say anything more.
Li Dabai was also putting on makeup on the makeup chair next to him.
She was wearing a white shirt and black trousers, her long hair was loose, and her makeup was very light, but her face was still too striking.
Her skin was as white as snow, gleaming slightly under the light.
Fu Yibai's gaze lingered on her face for a second.
Li Dabai noticed his gaze and bowed slightly.
"Mr. Fu."
Fu Yibai nodded, said nothing, and turned to leave.
As he reached the door, he turned back and glanced at Tang Yan.
"Don't be nervous during the opening ceremony later."
Tang Yan nodded, her eyes shining.
"Um."
The opening ceremony began promptly at 10:00 AM.
A makeshift stage was set up in the open space in front of the building, with a huge poster of "My Love from the Star" on the backdrop—Tang Yan and Hu Ge standing side by side against a starry sky, their profiles outlined softly by the lights.
An incense table was placed in the center of the stage, with a pig's head, fruit, and a camera covered with red silk.
Fu Yibai stood in the main seat, with Tang Yan on his left and Hu Ge on his right.
Li Dabai stood next to Tang Yan, with the core members of the production crew on either side.
Incense was lit, red silk was unveiled, and firecrackers exploded throughout the park.
Flashbulbs went off everywhere, reporters pushed forward, microphones practically shoving into Fu Yibai's face.
"Director Fu, you just finished filming 'Inception,' why did you suddenly switch to television dramas?"
"Director Fu, what is the target audience for this film? How is it different from your previous films?"
"Ms. Tang Yan, this is your first time acting in a director Fu's film. What are your impressions?"
"Hu Ge, how was it working with Director Fu?"
Fu Yibai raised his hand, and the reporters quieted down.
"Ask them one by one."
He pointed to the reporter at the very front.
"Go ahead and ask."
The reporter paused for a moment, then immediately spoke.
"Director Fu, why did you choose to direct television dramas?"
Fu Yibai smiled.
"Making movies is too tiring, I want to change my pace."
The reporters burst into laughter.
Another reporter pressed for an answer.
"So what is the target audience for this film? How is it different from your previous films?"
"position?"
Fu Yibai thought about it.
"It's a good TV series."
The idol dramas produced in China nowadays are far too poorly made. I want viewers to see some better idol dramas.
Someone turned the microphone towards Tang Yan.
"Ms. Tang Yan, are you nervous about acting in Director Fu's film for the first time?"
Tang Yan pursed her lips, trying her best to appear calm.
"I'm nervous, but mostly excited. Director Fu is very demanding, and I'll try my best to keep up with his pace."
Before the reporter could ask further questions, Fu Yibai had already turned and walked inside.
After the interview session, it was time for the media to take photos.
Tang Yan and Hu Ge were surrounded by reporters, striking various poses.
Li Dabai stood to the side, and although he was asked a few questions, most of the camera focused on the male and female protagonists.
Her expression was calm, revealing no emotion.
