Volume Two: Fireworks at Longmen - Chapter Twenty-Six: The First Target (Boom boom boom boom boom!)
After uttering the word "dealing with," Swire became like a sword drawn from its sheath—confident, flamboyant, and sharp.
She stood in front of Yun Yi and looked back.
Only Yun Yi could see her true appearance at this moment. Therefore, only she could see those few strands of hair brushing against Swire's forehead, cheeks, and lips, and see the desire in Swire's pale blue eyes that was even more urgent than Yun Yi's.
"Let's get ready to begin!"
Yun Yi wasn't quite sure why Swire, who had been suppressing herself, would suddenly erupt, just as he hadn't quite understood why Swire had both rejected and accepted him before.
But what does it matter?
With shared goals and the other person's high spirits, Yun Yi felt even more enjoyable—it was like a game, where the passion between two people was far more exhilarating and vibrant than immersing oneself alone.
Yun Yi didn't say anything, but his enthusiasm clearly increased exponentially.
"Ready?" Swire said, raising her paw to grab the projection in front of her. She narrowed her eyes, her pupils shrinking sharply as she focused intently on the enemy and the route shown on the projection, calculating rapidly in her mind.
"Hmm." Yun Yi tensed up, took a deep breath to suppress all his thoughts, and focused all his attention on Swire's upcoming command and the scene outside the mecha.
"Take the initiative, Maisaki Sugimoto! Launch '0-10' towards the central high ground! Turn left and proceed at full speed!"
Yun Yi raised her hand, and the mecha fired small cannonballs in sync with her. Then, relying on its powerful capabilities, it burst out from the spot.
The mech, as tall as a person, nimbly dodged the panicked crowd caused by the explosion, and instead sped up even faster, the surrounding scenery flashing by, the advanced airflow device swallowing up the wind-powered device.
Yun Yi moved like a ghost, traversing most of the area without leaving a trace, and arrived at the wall on the other side.
"'0-1' Frontal launch, charge straight in!" Swire's command came in seamlessly.
The paddle-shaped bullet, crackling with blue electricity, instantly vaporized along with the entire wall. The unseen mech rushed into the rising white mist and arrived at a dimly lit corridor.
"Continue, go through three sides."
Yun Yi charged forward decisively, paddle-shaped bullets shooting out from the mecha's chest, clearing a straight, misty path for her, which led directly to a door.
“'0-5', arrest him!” Swire stared intently at the enemy's markings inside the door projected onto the screen, a mocking smile playing on his lips.
Yun Yi stepped forward in sync with the mecha, slamming out with one hand while gripping the blade on the outside of the mecha with the other.
Invisible ripples traveled through the door into the room, accompanied by a muffled groan as the mech collapsed. It casually tore open the door, stepped inside, and sucked the unconscious Zalak into the cockpit.
Inside the space, Swire arrived immediately to receive the order. She tied Zalak to the interrogation table, then quickly returned to the viewing area. After a few glances, she declared, "Found it. Move forward, bombard the third house from above—make it a big show, keep it going until someone comes looking for us."
After saying that, Swire ran back to the interrogation table and knocked Zalak awake.
"—" As soon as Zalak opened his eyes, he saw a strange-looking (without specific facial features, all in black) battle-worn, muscular Rupert who looked like he had returned from hell, and he almost fainted again.
"Old man, if you want to die, keep sleeping," Rupert warned, his voice muffled, as if he were extremely impatient.
"No, no, no, brother, please forgive my rudeness. If I have offended you, just tell me. I will compensate you, I will definitely compensate you!" Old man Zhalak beaded on his forehead and begged for forgiveness in a trembling voice.
He tried to move his hand, wanting to pull out something to cover his tracks, but found himself already strapped to a rock-hard chair.
Old man Zalak trembled even more violently, his mouth tightly shut, and he became extremely docile.
Swire, who was under Rupert's body, almost burst out laughing. This was the first time she had been forced to kneel down by her interrogation target without having to use any methods.
However, this is not enough.
"Compensate? What can the Crown-Bearer compensate?" The burly man Rupert opened his mouth and sneered. Even in the darkness, his sharp teeth could not be hidden. His words sent a chill down Zalak's spine, and he shuddered violently.
He wore a mournful, ugly expression, but his voice suddenly turned cold and steady: "Just tell me, what do you want?"
“Hey, I heard you have people here, so I came all this way to buy some goods.” Rupert’s huge, sharp claws braced on the table, and his massive body pressed down closer.
Rupert's features, obscured by details, swayed in the shadows, his sharp teeth almost touching Zalak's face, as if he could bite off Zalak's head at any moment.
Old man Zalak quickly leaned back to avoid it, and blurted out the information: "The hotel! Everyone's being kept on the top floor of the hotel!"
“You’re not being honest.” Rupert exhaled white breath, but then sat back down.
He sat imposingly on the sofa, his eyes radiating a distinct sense of being watched. Even though Zalak was the one sitting high on the interrogation table looking down on Rupert, he felt like the one being looked down upon.
He felt uneasy.
Swire under Luper sighed inwardly that it was indeed not that simple, but even if it was temporary, Swire would not allow herself to fall into a complete predicament.
The silence between the two was brief. Under Zalak's relieved gaze, Rupert stood up again and returned to the interrogation table.
Zalak's heart nearly stopped from being pulled back and forth like this. Even though he knew this was a common tactic, he couldn't calm himself down and was forced into a state of tension and confusion.
“Black and white contracts,” Rupert said in a low voice after he stopped.
Zalak's pupils dilated, then quickly returned to normal.
He put on an obsequious smile and said, "So you want me to draft two contracts for your company? No problem, no problem, everyone knows that I, Old Liu, am best at this!"
"Lin Gerui." Rupert ignored his performance and simply said his name.
This is the real name of the "Rat King".
Zalak's expression went blank for a moment, then quickly returned to normal.
At this moment, he shed all pretense, leaving only genuine fear. His whole body stiffened, and his heart pounded as if it wanted to leap out of his body and leave him.
Zalak swallowed hard, suppressing his fear, and said with difficulty, "It's right below the boxing ring. That's the new one; the old one was indeed in the hotel's top floor attic."
“Continue,” Rupert urged calmly and confidently, his dark eyes seemingly glowing red as he stared intently at Zalak’s head.
Zalak took a deep breath, then another, his brain trembling, and rattled off several more places, one of which was even in the Rat King's rightful territory.
Rupert couldn't help but glance sideways: "You have the guts to do this, yet you're involved in contracts?"
“…” Zalak remained silent; his head was still throbbing.
This is why he doesn't want to get involved in anything now, but is still forced to get deeply involved—he's getting old, his brain can't keep up, and he's become too timid, so he's being swept along and can't escape at all.
Is it because he has guts? No, it's because today's young people are so reckless and arrogant that they're dragging him down with them on a wild run towards hell!
If it's not Rupert today who ignites this conflict, it could be Liberi tomorrow.
He had a premonition that he would suffer a setback, but he didn't expect to be verbally threatened into doing so.
Lin Gerui has been making a lot of moves lately, which has greatly displeased Syracuse, he knows.
But isn't it a bit unethical for the Syracusans to use the Rat King, Ling Ke Rui, against a nobody like him? Was it really necessary?
"I'll send you to the Guard Bureau. Prepare your own documents and turn yourself in." Rupert's lips moved, and he uttered some more terrifying words.
Zalak's head throbbed even more. Did these Syracuses even know what they were doing?
Lungmen isn't Syracuse, where every grudge, whether resolved or not, has to go through the same legal channels as Madame de Sicily. The Royal Guard isn't the Grey Hall either, capable of handling matters that could get you shot.
If he goes and actually turns himself in, he'll either die or be crippled. Isn't that just setting him up for failure?
But Rupert, with his gangster-like irrationality, single-mindedly knocked Zalak unconscious. It seems that when he wakes up, he will appear in the Guard Bureau.
Before falling into a coma, all Zalak could do was pray that the Guard Bureau wouldn't have any irrefutable evidence against him.
Rupert grabbed him, the poem beneath the skin - Senior Superintendent of the Guard Bureau - No solid evidence but a search warrant - Wyatt breathed a sigh of relief, the intelligence was successfully obtained, the key figure was successfully arrested, only the rescue of the hostages, no, the victims remained.
ps:
The pacing seems a bit slow? The next chapter will speed things up.

Volume 2: Fireworks at Longmen: Chapter 27 The First Target (Part 2) (An Unexpected Gain)
Unlike the intrigue and backstabbing on Swire's side, Yun Yi focused on a quick and easy approach, launching a powerful attack once they reached the target location.
During this process, she had a great time testing the small lethal weapons carried by the Nirvana's basic structure.
As expected, the huge and continuous commotion attracted the security personnel in the area, and also brought along a woman with long horns dressed in extremely flamboyant clothes.
Yun Yi remained invisible, so the newcomer only knew that someone was there but couldn't see them. He searched the entire house like a headless fly but couldn't find a single clue.
Yun Yi easily evaded the searches by several security personnel, finding it somewhat boring.
That concludes Swire's instructions. What should she do next?
Do nothing?
She couldn't hold it in.
Dry?
There has to be a goal.
Moreover, what you do should ideally not affect the plan—you shouldn't cause harm to the victims.
Yun Yi was lost in thought for a moment, then suddenly remembered the two people from before.
There are obvious clues about the other party, and they also have conflicts with each other. Why not follow them and see? Maybe they'll expose their weaknesses or reveal the key information here.
Do it when you think of it.
Ignoring the security guards who were sweating profusely from searching for him, Yun Yi piloted his mecha back to the central area.
Amidst the chaos of the guests, she quickly spotted two people who seemed relatively calm and were still talking to each other.
As Yun Yi approached, he heard the two arguing.
"...Where's your brain?"
"Among the items cancelled at auction today!"
"*Syracist profanity*!"
"Hey! Why are you swearing? Don't think I can't understand you!"
"*Syracist slang*!"
Yun Yi blinked. What's going on?
Is this a breakup?
The tall Zalak clicked his tongue, muttering "tasteless, stubborn fool," but did not leave.
The short Rupert remained calm, as if he hadn't been the one who had just swore, and he didn't leave either.
The two men stood together, exuding an air of tension, yet they seemed oblivious to the earlier explosion and the rumbling that had just ceased not far away, a stark contrast to the still chaotic guests around them.
It's a bit eye-catching.
This unusual situation soon attracted the attention of Li Boli, who was dressed in a suit.
Wearing a name tag identifying her as an organizer and sporting a polite smile, she spoke with sharp and decisive words. She quickly realized that the two people were simply used to big events and not suspects, so she turned and left decisively.
"Perfect timing," tall Zalak commented as he watched the retreating figure, then removed his cigar from his lips, carefully put it back in its box, and tucked it away close to his body.
Rupert suppressed his agitation and remained calmly silent.
"Shall we go?" Zalak didn't care. He called out and turned to walk towards the opening that Yun Yi had blasted open.
As he walked, a gray mist flowed in from all directions, gradually enveloping his entire body.
Rupert caught up and reached out to touch the other, and the gray mist enveloped him along with the contact.
Then, both of them disappeared.
Yun Yi immediately activated the Nirvana's detectors and saw the two of them again.
She caught up with them, curious about their background.
First, we can rule out ordinary guests; second, we can rule out the Rat King's men; and it's unlikely that gangs and factions would cooperate.
Could it be a spy or informant from the Royal Guard? Very likely.
Yunyi came up with an outrageous answer and strongly agreed with it.
After the two of them wandered around for a while, they finally opened a door.
Behind the door was murky air and numb faces, people trapped in a small corner of a cage, filling the room.
Yun Yi frowned, and a faint light swirled on the mecha's hand cannon—he really wanted to flatten the hotel with one shot!
