Chapter 27 Supernatural Collision
Chapter 27 Supernatural Collision
"It's the man Li Maolin brought back." Sun Rui's eyes narrowed.
The man's eyes were closed, and his face was very calm.
In this situation, even if Sun Rui accidentally falls asleep, he will be startled awake. Moreover, the noise Sun Rui made when he kicked the door was so loud that a normal person would have woken up long ago.
"This is an opportunity!"
Sun Rui ran wildly towards the ancestral hall. The fact that the ghostly haze could spread out proved that the ghostly power of the burned ghost had been suppressed.
Sun Rui still couldn't understand what Gui Mai's killing pattern was. Why was it this person out of so many people in the village? Why wasn't he killed that night, while Li Maolin died as soon as he fell asleep?
"Now is not the time to think about this. We need to finish the delivery mission first." Sun Rui's mind raced, putting aside any unnecessary questions.
Running at full speed, Sun Rui reached the wellhead in less than an hour.
"As expected, the flames have gone out."
The body in the well had been completely burned. Sun Rui could vaguely see a red corpse floating in the well, which was the target mentioned in the letter.
Just then, footsteps sounded behind them.
Sun Rui then noticed that Zhong Hang and the other two had also arrived.
"You all stay here and guard the well. Don't allow anyone to approach the well." Sun Rui glanced at the group.
"Is there anything we can do for you?" Zhong Hang asked.
"You guys guard the wellhead and pull me up if necessary." Sun Rui quickly tied the rope around himself and then placed the other end of the rope in the hands of the men.
The well opening is small, and the well walls are made of bluestone blocks. As long as you can step on the protrusions on both sides, a person can easily go down into the well.
Sun Rui stepped on the protruding bluestone blocks on both sides and began to descend into the well.
At that moment, the previously clear sky quickly darkened, and a thick fog soon enveloped the village.
Sun Rui was completely unaware of all this, because once he entered the well, he was separated from the outside world. The well wasn't dark; Sun Rui could even see some firelight, but fortunately, the firelight couldn't harm him.
"This is a unique supernatural space," Sun Rui said after sensing it.
The ghosts here are fierce; sweat beaded on Sun Rui's forehead.
Because the bottom of the well seemed to be moving away from him.
"Damn it! I'll give it my all!"
Sun Rui let go with his hands and feet and began to slide down to the bottom of the well. During the process, Sun Rui felt the fractures in his fingers and toes, but it was all worth it.
He was rapidly approaching the blood-red corpse.
Sun Rui could already smell a strong stench of blood, as if someone had been pressed directly into the bloodstream. At the same time, he felt the vengeful spirit within his body being suppressed.
"Is this ghost blood?" Sun Rui asked in surprise. As far as he knew, only ghost blood could suppress vengeful spirits.
And just before that, a blood-soaked man crawled out of Ghost Lake, making it hard for Sun Rui not to connect the two events.
It took Sun Rui at least a minute to descend to the well water level.
"The rope broke!" Sun Rui saw that the other end of the rope that had fallen from above had a smooth cut, not a man-made cut, but one severed by some force.
Now he can only gamble that the blood corpse can't suppress the Ghost Post Office's guidance!
"Ah!" Sun Rui screamed in pain. He forced himself to stop with his legs, which were almost broken. Fortunately, his hands were saved.
Sun Rui floated on the water, with the blood-soaked corpse beside him.
He endured the pain and took the letter out of his pocket.
Before the letter could be handed to the corpse, a pair of blood-soaked hands took it from the body, and the letter disappeared quickly.
"What a joke!" Sun Rui's pupils shrank sharply. At this moment, the chill of the lake water was nothing compared to the chill in his heart.
The blood-soaked corpse at the bottom of the well appears to be conscious.
But Sun Rui couldn't care less about the situation now. He immediately took out a special lighter and black letter paper from his pocket, wanting to leave. The letter paper was a supernatural product and wouldn't get wet with ordinary water.
Sun Rui rolled the letter into a long strip so that it would burn longer; otherwise, he wouldn't be able to get the Ghost Post Office's guidance. He lit the letter easily, but the flames emitted by the letter had no heat; instead, they made him feel a chill.
A building appeared, barely visible. Sun Rui could see three large characters flashing on the building in the distance—Ghost Post Office.
"The connection was successful!"
Before he could enjoy his happiness for long, Sun Rui smelled a strong stench of decay and the smell of a burned corpse.
"Depend on!"
A cloud of grayish-white mist escaped from the corpse and went straight into his nostrils.
A chilling and eerie feeling filled his entire body, and in that instant, Sun Rui felt like his head was about to explode.
But that wasn't all; a flame rose from the blood-red body, the flame as thick as pulsating blood.
Sun Rui understood that his arrival had once again reduced the suppressive power of the blood corpse, so from this moment on, the supernatural forces completely spiraled out of control.
If it were an ordinary messenger delivering the message, there wouldn't be any problem at all, but he happens to be a demon tamer.
He could feel the ghostly haze entering his lungs and then slowly spreading throughout his body.
But at that moment, a strange flame ignited in his lower body, and intense pain engulfed him, making him unable to feel his lower body anymore.
He finally understood why no one could detect when someone was set on fire.
It turns out he had been dead for a long time.
However, because Sun Rui's upper body is now occupied by the disease ghost and the ghost haze, the flames cannot burn, which has allowed him to survive. But Sun Rui is in great pain, his eyes are tightly closed, as if he is having a nightmare.
"..."
"Wasn't I on a mission to deliver a message? Where am I?" Sun Rui rubbed his temples, as if he had forgotten something.
"What is a letter? Who am I...?" Sun Rui muttered.
Before him was a river, and he was squatting by the side of the boat, his face reflected in the water.
"Li Maolin... My name is Li Maolin." He seemed to suddenly remember who he was, and kept muttering to himself.
He suddenly felt a chill and realized that he was soaked to the bone.
"Maolin, come help me pull it up, this time the current is a bit heavy."
He then noticed an old man standing nearby, holding a bamboo pole, seemingly holding onto something in the water.
"Okay...okay." He said subconsciously.
The "water god" mentioned by the elderly is actually a corpse that died in the water. It carries a sense of awe and is meant to ask them to "come with the water and safely reach the shore."
He went to the old man's side, and the two of them pulled together with the bamboo pole to hook the body to the side of the boat.
"This time, one of the leather bags was torn; no wonder the body hasn't surfaced," the old man said.
The cowhide bag was tied under the corpse's armpits to allow the body to float naturally, while the corpse was bound with rope.
"Didn't I teach you the rules: tie your hands with a slipknot and your waist with a knotted knot? Look at what you've tied!" The old man looked at the corpse with some anger on his face.
"Don't you know this is the rule in our line of work, something we have to avoid!"
"I understand, Grandpa. I'll do better next time!" he replied, though he didn't know why he should answer that way, but a voice inside him was telling him to answer that way.
"Pull the Water God up. That should do the job for now," the old man said, looking at his somewhat disappointing son.
He crouched down and pulled the body up with all his might, easily getting it onto the boat.
He looked at the swollen and pale corpse, but surprisingly, he felt nothing.
"Isn't this my first time wading through water?" he wondered.
At that moment, the previously still corpse suddenly grabbed his hand.
"Help me!" The corpse's mouth was wide open, splitting all the way to its ears, and bodily fluids flowed from its mouth onto his hands.
Seeing this, fear rose in his heart. He turned to ask "Grandpa" for help, only to find that the person had disappeared.
