Mysterious Resurrection: Becoming a God Starting from a Ghost Post Office

Chapter 4 What Happened Back Then

Chapter 4 What Happened Back Then

Sun Rui watched Liu Qi's family quietly until Liu Qi felt the strange gazes.

"May I ask what brings you here?" Liu Qi asked as he stepped forward.

"Let me introduce myself, Sun Rui. I'm the same kind of person as Zhou Zheng, whom you've met." Sun Rui took out his ID from his pocket and showed it to Zhou Zheng.

Liu Qi was taken aback. He had originally just wanted to tell Sun Rui not to watch the show in front of his house, and he had even prepared an excuse such as his family's elders had just passed away. He didn't expect Sun Rui to reveal his identity right away.

"You...are you here to deal with paranormal events?" Liu Qi asked, suppressing his fear. After narrowly escaping death from the terrifying old man last time, he gradually realized that the arrival of Zhou Zheng and his group often meant paranormal events.

"That's right, I'll give you a chance. You can persuade them to leave before dark, but the coffin and the mourning hall cannot be moved," Sun Rui said, glancing at his watch.

He was willing to give ordinary people a chance, but whether they could seize it was up to them. He wasn't a saint and didn't have the energy to persuade them one by one, so he had to hand the job over to Liu Qi.

"A coffin and a mourning hall, what do you mean?" Liu Qi glanced at the mourning hall, and whether it was psychological or something else, the normally normal mourning hall now seemed somewhat gloomy.

"Are there problems with my grandparents? That's impossible, I've never heard of them..." He realized it almost instantly.

"I've given you the opportunity. Whether you seize it or not is up to you. Don't entertain any other unnecessary thoughts, or I'll shoot before you can act." Sun Rui coldly looked at the busy crowd in front of him.

"Okay!" Liu Qi said through gritted teeth. He didn't want what happened at No. 7 Middle School to happen again, and all his relatives were here.

Seeing Liu Qi turn and leave, Sun Rui found a spot not too far away to observe the changes in the mourning hall. At the same time, he also had to prevent any problems from happening in the mourning hall, as this was the final delivery point. If he survived the supernatural event but failed the delivery mission and suffered an attack from the ghost post office for nothing, it would be too much of a loss.

Liu Qi returned to his parents' side, and he is still somewhat dazed.

Will grandparents really turn into ghosts? Although Sun Rui didn't say it explicitly, the implication was clear.

He attended primary and junior high school in the nearby town. During summer vacation, he would stay at his grandparents' house because they didn't have much money to buy air conditioning. Their old house was very cool, so he would come here almost every summer.

Later, he was admitted to No. 7 Middle School with excellent grades. His parents moved to the city so that he could concentrate on his studies. Although it was just an ordinary rented room, it had air conditioning. He would only come back occasionally during the summer vacation and only come back to stay for a period of time during the Spring Festival.

"Xiaoqi, don't be sad. They say that living to seventy or eighty is enough. Your grandparents have passed away peacefully." Liu Anguo patted his son's shoulder, afraid that his son would be too sad, after all, the child had been very close to his grandparents since he was a child.

"Dad, did your grandparents tell you any strange stories when you were little?" Liu Qi asked. He didn't directly tell everyone to leave, as that wasn't realistic. Only those who have experienced paranormal events can understand the terror of vengeful ghosts.

"This? Let me think." When his son asked, Liu Anguo patted his head and talked about things from his youth, which was a way of diverting his son's attention.

"Then let me tell you about your grandparents when they were young. I heard it from the villagers. Back then, your great-grandfather did not agree to your grandparents' marriage. But your grandparents were also stubborn. They said that the country has long advocated freedom of love. The two of them were only seventeen or eighteen years old at the time. They took a few sets of clothes from home and ran away."

"They've been gone for ten years. The villagers say they ran back after losing all their money doing business outside, but when I asked them, they denied it. They just never talked about what happened outside back then."

"After the two of them came back, they fell seriously ill. Even the town's health center couldn't help them. Your great-grandfather didn't acknowledge this daughter-in-law, but he still found a famous barefoot doctor from far away to treat them. This doctor was quite capable. On the first day he came, your grandparents were cured on the second day. After they recovered, I was born. Your great-grandfather finally had a way out and accepted us as a family..." Liu Anguo recounted.

"What did that barefoot doctor say at the time?" Liu Qi asked.

"I don't know about that. I'm afraid only your great-grandfather and your grandparents would know. But your great-grandfather did give one instruction before he passed away: that your grandparents must be buried in the same coffin after they die," Liu Anguo said.

"I understand." Liu Qi had thought that his grandparents wanted to be buried together after they died because of their deep affection, but he didn't expect that this was something that had been arranged decades ago.

Perhaps his grandparents had experienced some supernatural events in their early years and were tainted by something unclean before returning to the village. That barefoot doctor was definitely not simple; he was very likely the same kind of person as Zhou Zheng.

"Dad, I have something to tell you..." Before Liu Qi could finish speaking, the roar of motorcycles filled the air, and four people on two motorcycles came to a stop in front of the mourning hall.

Sun Rui, who was in the distance, saw these people and knew in his heart that the messengers from the Ghost Post Office had arrived.

"Is this where we deliver the letter? The mourning hall isn't even finished yet, which means we'll have to stay here for a while. What bad luck!"

The speaker was Li Jian, who was also the owner of room 12. Sun Rui glanced at the faces of the group. Except for the somewhat crazy female office worker from room 11, the others were all there.

"What about the newcomer? Did he not find the way? If he misses the delivery time, he could kill everyone!" Li Jian's words were full of complaints about Lin Zhensheng not daring to take action this morning.

"Stop talking nonsense. If you weren't a coward, why didn't you make a move this morning?" Lin Zhensheng's eyes narrowed slightly. He was very unhappy with Li Jian.

"What are you doing here? Outsiders aren't welcome here today!" Liu Anguo stepped forward and stopped the group.

"Brothers, you'd better leave quickly, this place will soon be haunted," Lin Zhensheng said as he stepped forward.

"I think you're just here to cause trouble. What kind of society is this? You're still talking about ghosts." Liu Anguo glared angrily at the group. He had thought they would come up with a good excuse for causing trouble, but it turned out to be such a lame one.

"Get lost! If you dare cause trouble, we'll call the police!" Liu Anguo picked up a broom and started hitting the group.

The group retreated repeatedly.

"Let's go!" Lin Zhensheng glanced at Liu Anguo, not bothering to argue with him. They would find out when the supernatural event broke out anyway.

He turned to leave, only to find Sun Rui watching them from a distance.

Li Jian, who had been so arrogant, immediately wilted. Lin Zhensheng remained silent for a while before walking up to Sun Rui.

"I hope we can work together to complete this mission. Let's put aside our minor disagreements for now. Our common goal is to survive." Lin Zhensheng extended his right hand, wanting to shake hands with Sun Rui.

"Cooperation? It has to be valuable. What value do you have? Is it just talk?" Sun Rui looked at the people in front of him with some indifference.

The messenger on the first floor didn't understand the meaning of delivering the message. The message itself wasn't the goal; the key was to steal supernatural power during the delivery process. Once the mission progressed, there would always be times when they had to confront the vengeful spirits head-on, and an ordinary person was simply not enough.

"More than 30 years ago, I met someone similar to you. Although I'm not sure, you and he gave me a very similar feeling." Lin Zhensheng sighed, as if unwilling to recall the incident.
