Chapter 7 Yugadim—
Chapter 7 Yugadim—
The wind whistled past my ears, making a sharp, screeching sound.
Lucas felt the whole world spinning wildly. In an instant, the farm and scorched hillsides below shrank to the size of a palm, and the wizards disappeared completely. In the blink of an eye, several white clouds were beneath him, and the endless hillsides flashed by.
Before he could react, a hoarse dragon roared, and the black dragon flapped its wings!
An irresistible force was transmitted from the chains to Ellie, then pulled on Lucas at the end, throwing him violently into the air like a roller coaster, drawing a huge arc in the sky!
With a whoosh, his hands couldn't hold onto Ellie's calves at all, and he slid down!
With a crisp snap, several brass buttons flew off!
At the last moment, Lucas grabbed Ellie's rough deerskin boots tightly, but the boots creaked as if they would burst open in mid-air at any moment.
"Get your wand!" Ellie yelled from above, her voice muffled by the wind, "Use a levitation charm or something!"
"Sorry, I only received the letter from Hogwarts half a day ago!" Lucas shouted as well. "The school hasn't given me my wand yet!"
"What?!" Ellie exclaimed. "Then what are you doing up here?"
"I thought I could save you—"
His body began to swing again. This was no place for chatting, so Lucas simply shut up. He concentrated all his strength in his arms and hands, trying to pull his body up.
Ellie clenched her teeth tightly.
With a twist of her right hand, she wrapped the chain around again, then, enduring excruciating pain, locked the clasp at the end of the chain. Finally, she could free her left hand and draw her wand.
However—whoosh! The black dragon flapped its wings again!
The chains snapped back to a straight line, swinging Ellie and Lucas around like a pendulum.
With a snap, the last few buttons on the deerskin boots burst open!
Lucas only had time to let out a cry of surprise before he was violently thrown away—
"Yugadim - Leviosa!"
The instant Lucas flew away, Ellie shouted her incantation. The intense, urgent desire to save him made her mind go blank, and she felt all her strength suddenly vanish.
Then, an exceptionally thick beam of light shot out from the wand in her hand and struck Lucas!
Lucas felt a tremendous force—no, it was his clothes—lifting him up and pulling him into the air!
I actually flew!
However, before Lucas could even feel the joy of surviving the ordeal, he discovered that this power was completely out of control. He was being launched into the air at an incredible speed, then hurtling forward like a cannonball, flying straight up to the black dragon from behind.
Lucas and the black dragon with its mouth full of fangs stared at each other, wide-eyed.
Then the black dragon suddenly realized what was happening, opened its blood-stained maw, and bit down on Lucas!
With a loud bang, the countless fangs bit into empty air!
It turned out that the force exerted on Lucas's clothes and pulling him suddenly weakened. Just as the black dragon lunged forward to bite, Lucas slid backward, just missing the dragon's mouth, and ended up on the top of the black dragon's back.
The pulling force decreased sharply, the flight speed slowed down, and the altitude was decreasing...
This is the last chance!
Lucas's eyes widened, and with a sudden lunge, he grabbed the black dragon's high, erect spine and slammed heavily onto its back.
He groaned, seeing stars. The sharp edges of the black dragon's scales were digging painfully into his ribs, but he held on tightly to the spine, securing himself to the dragon's back.
Without even taking a breath, he reached out and touched the chain locked at the base of the black dragon's wings.
"I'm up! Hang in there, I'm pulling you up right now!"
But there was only the howling wind and the hoarse roar of the dragon; there was no response whatsoever.
Lucas was taken aback and looked down to see Ellie's figure flying violently like a leaf in a storm at the end of the chain that was swinging wildly in the air.
Ellie has fainted?!
If the chains hadn't been firmly fastened to her arms, she probably would have been thrown off and smashed into a bloody pulp.
Just then, the black dragon roared angrily. How could it allow Lucas to climb onto its back!
It flapped its wings angrily, trying to spin and tumble in the air to fling Lucas and Ellie away. But as soon as it exerted force, it let out a miserable howl, and the huge wound on its wing burst open again, spurting out a stream of blood.
The black dragon trembled violently, almost falling from the sky. Lucas clung tightly to the dragon's spine, watching anxiously as the girl was once again swung high into the air by the chains.
Fortunately, the black dragon quickly regained its balance. It glided forward with its wings taut, no longer daring to make any violent movements. Its flight became slow and steady, which was a godsend!
He lay on his back on the dragon's back, clinging to the sharp, angular scales. In the much calmer wind, he struggled to maintain his balance, crawling towards the base of the black dragon's wings, and finally managed to tighten his grip on the chains.
Then, he kicked off the black dragon's high, bulging back and pulled upwards with all his might!
Huh?
Lucas was pleasantly surprised to find that it must be some kind of magical chain, as it was much lighter than he had imagined!
The clatter of chains echoed in the wind. Lucas pulled with all his might, and finally heard a soft groan. Ellie was pulled onto the dragon's back and brought to his side.
Lucas caught his breath and saw Ellie's right arm, tightly bound by chains; her palm was pale and waxy from lack of blood. He tried to unlock the chains, but couldn't find the mechanism. As he anxiously studied the situation, a weak voice suddenly said, "Press here..."
Lucas turned his head and met Ellie's bright purple eyes.
"Thank goodness, you're awake." With her guidance, Lucas finally found the switch, and with a crisp click, the latch popped open.
Lucas then discovered that the chain was deeply embedded in the linen shirt on her right arm, and she could only carefully study how to remove it.
"It will hurt a little, just bear with it."
Before he could even make a move, Ellie gritted her teeth, grabbed the chain with her left hand, and twisted and pulled it!
A muffled groan, barely suppressed!
With a clanging sound, the chain was forcibly ripped from Ellie's arm, and fine beads of sweat appeared on her forehead.
Lucas stared in disbelief. Ellie had already raised her head, panting heavily, tossing her disheveled golden-brown hair behind her, and extended her left hand to Lucas.
"Ellie Jane McFastie... thank you for saving me."
"Lucas McGregor." Lucas, still in shock, grasped her arm, looking at Ellie's right arm hanging limply at her side. "Actually, you saved me first. How's your right hand?"
"It's nothing." Ellie's face was pale, and her voice was weak. "It's probably just a dislocation. A simple spell and some potion will do..."
Just then, a purple firework burst brilliantly in the distant sky, illuminating half of the sky.
