093 Vision
The flames solidified.
The orange-red flames hovered in mid-air, and the entire mountain was covered in syrup.
Lu Mingfei remembered when he first arrived at his aunt's house, there was a little old man at the entrance of the neighborhood. Every day after school, he would push a cart filled with all sorts of sugar paintings. Next to him was a copper pot, with red syrup bubbling away.
The old man scooped up a spoonful, flicked his wrist, and the syrup landed on the board. With a few strokes, he sketched out Sun Wukong, stuck it on a bamboo skewer, and lifted it up—it was done.
The children surrounded the toy car, holding their parents' hands, waving their pocket money, and shouting "Doraemon!" and "Ultraman!" He stood behind them, looking enviously at the snacks in the children's hands and at their parents beside them.
How wonderful! Lu Mingfei also had a little figure in his hand. He subconsciously licked it; it was sticky and had a pungent, fishy smell.
He lowered his head.
That wasn't a sugar painting; no one had ever bought him one.
That's EVA Unit-03 over there!
Unit-03, stripped of its armor, sat slumped on the winding mountain road. Its muscles were exposed, and blood seeped from its entire body, flowing down the hillside, more and more, until it formed a river.
The mountain began to tremble, and the flames turned into orange-red water that rushed down the mountain, over his feet, and continued to wash down the winding mountain road.
It rained for a little while. He stood in the middle of the orange river, staring blankly as the No. 3 machine in his hand turned into water.
Orange.
"LCL?" Lu Mingfei murmured.
"Brother, are you crazy?" Lu Mingze looked at him with a mischievous grin. "Are you too touched to see me wake up?"
Lu Mingfei was initially touched, but seeing Lu Mingze's irritating face, he subconsciously clenched his fists.
Orange-red liquid spurted from between his fingers and splashed onto his face.
"Lu! Ming! Ze!" Lu Mingfei's face was contorted with rage as he pointed at Unit 3 beside him, shouting, "What have you done?! What kind of time is this to be doing this disgusting thing?!"
That was one of his most painful memories. Even though Lu Mingze had sacrificed a lot for him, it didn't mean he could recklessly tear open his own scars!
Lu Mingfei hardened his fist. He was determined to beat this brat up today and teach him a lesson about the authority of an elder brother!
Constantine was startled and stopped crying, quickly hiding behind Lu Mingze.
Lu Mingze pushed him to the ground with disdain, "Go away, go play somewhere else."
"Lu Mingze, let go!" Lu Mingfei walked over and helped Constantine up. "Don't cry, I'll take you to find your brother."
Constantine looked at Lu Mingfei, then at the giant humanoid monster that had suddenly appeared beside him, and retreated in fear, not daring to speak.
"Brother, why are you siding with outsiders?" Lu Mingze said resentfully, kicking the dragon corpse lying on the ground hard.
"Look at the mess you've made. Do you think I'd be happy to see this?" Lu Mingfei said. Luckily, he had been with Zero for a long time, which had stabilized his emotions. Otherwise, he would have gone crazy long ago.
"Brother, this is your spiritual vision," Lu Mingze said, feeling wronged. "I didn't do anything at all!"
"My...spiritual vision?" Lu Mingfei frowned.
"Everyone's spiritual vision is different, but they will all see what they care about most deep down. Your subconscious recreated that scene." Lu Mingze raised his head, looking at the huge, mangled humanoid corpse. "Our first time fighting side by side, what a failure..."
"I'm sorry," Lu Mingfei stared blankly at Lu Mingze, his eyes blurry with unfocused emotion, "I yelled at you just now..."
"It's okay."
"When we met in that world, whose vision was it?"
"No, the concept of 'spiritual vision' doesn't exist in that world. I just called mental connection 'spiritual vision' for convenience," Lu Mingze explained. "After all, the effects are about the same."
"It feels so real," Lu Mingze crouched down and touched the LCL on the ground. "So, brother still misses that world..."
"That world..."
The orange water reached his ankles, warm, like the temperature of the last day of that world.
Lu Mingfei stood there, looking at Lu Mingze, when suddenly, a thought flashed through his mind.
The thought quickly replicated and split until his mind could no longer hold any other thoughts. He trembled all over and grabbed Lu Mingze's shoulder.
Constantine couldn't understand what the two brothers were saying. Seeing Lu Mingfei's terrifying appearance, he assumed that Lu Mingfei was about to lose his temper again, so he quickly hid behind his own corpse, spread his wings to cover himself, and secretly observed the commotion.
This older brother is terrifying. It's one thing for him to hit me, but he's so mean to his younger brother. My older brother is the best.
"Lu Mingze," Lu Mingfei began with difficulty, speaking each word slowly and deliberately, "is it still possible to go back there?"
Lu Mingze became serious, lowered his head, and thought about it carefully for a while.
"I don't know either," Lu Mingze shook his head. "I only started to have a sense of this world when the Third Impact occurred.
"I suspect that when Unit-01 became a god, it opened the Gaius Gate, creating an opening in the world that allowed me to reconnect with this world. To travel to that world again, I'll probably have to repeat the process."
"Either this world reaches Ragnarok, achieving an effect similar to opening the Gate of Gaius; or, the other side will actively open the Gate of Gaius again."
The Gate of Gaius, the treasure trove of all souls.
Lu Mingfei looked at the scene behind the door. After Unit-01 became a god, a series of halos opened above its head, but behind it was empty, with only a strange object composed of several crosses floating in the void.
"Hey, brother, what are you spacing out for?" Lu Mingze's tone became cheerful. "Speaking of which, you did a great job. You look like the Dragon King has returned."
"What? The Dragon King is back?" Lu Mingfei was distracted by Lu Mingze's question.
"Slaying dragons, you really are a monster now," Lu Mingze said casually, sitting on Constantine's corpse and pointing at the little boy hiding behind it. "Aren't you surprised you've never had any incantations?"
"Words of power? Isn't the AT field my words of power?" Lu Mingfei asked rhetorically.
"Hey, are you really stupid or just pretending? Is there really such a bug-like word of power?" Lu Mingze sighed, "I noticed something was off about you as soon as I woke up. Don't tell me you didn't notice it yourself."
"What...what exactly do you mean?" Lu Mingfei murmured, as if he had just realized something.
Since coming into this world, his life has not been much easier.
He found that he was eating less and less, his metabolism was slowing down, and he hardly needed to eat to replenish the energy he needed for daily life.
"You're turning into an apostle, brother!" Lu Mingze sighed and said, "Honestly, I thought we were already monsters enough, but I didn't expect you to secretly undergo a super evolution while I was away!"
"I'm not a Digimon, what kind of super evolution is this...?"
