Chapter 627 Diving into the Deep Sea
Chapter 627 Diving into the Deep Sea
Chapter 627 Diving into the Deep Sea
The Avengers made some subtle adjustments for this operation.
First, Namor needs to return to Atlantis and organize an Atlantean government. With the nation's most elite troops and even the king himself defeated, Atlantis is undoubtedly in a state of panic. If nothing unexpected happens, the so-called "tyrant" Kron has already begun using various means to try and bring one Atlantean city after another under his control.
As for whether Namor's return would be of any use, and how useful it would be, that remains to be seen. However, at least his return alive would certainly be better than him disappearing. Moreover, in order to better infiltrate the Temple of Poseidon, the Avengers need Namor to lure Kron out.
Namor, who felt a great responsibility towards Atlantis, surprisingly returned without any temper.
Then there's the next pair. Strange found other sorcerers in Kamar-Taj to help Thor locate the Enchantress. Once they found her, Thor would go after her. The reason for sending Thor was that, just as the Executioner was the Enchantress's lapdog, the Enchantress was Thor's lapdog.
Or rather, a large part of the reason Enchantress was willing to help Loki was because Loki promised that if Thor lost his throne, his fiancée Sif would definitely abandon him, and then this foolish brother would be hers. The fact that Enchantress believed such a low-level promise demonstrates her limited intelligence when it comes to matters concerning Thor.
Therefore, a lone Thor, searching for the Enchantress herself, is actually a huge lure for the witch.
"Next, the Avengers will make a grand trip to the Roxon Corporation to investigate Loki's subordinates and their cooperation with Roxon. Of course, their main purpose is to attract the enemy's attention and to restrain Roxon's potential fighting power."
As Peter spoke, he manipulated his nanosuit into deep-water mode. Strange glanced at Peter and said calmly, "I can use underwater breathing and water pressure-ignoring spells, Spider-Man."
"I know." Looking at his dark blue and crimson suit, Peter looked at his two teammates and said, "I just wanted to show you that I have a really cool diving suit."
"Undoubtedly, very handsome, buddy."
Poppy Drake, known as Iceman, expressed his feelings with great empathy. As one of the original five members of the X-Men, he was perhaps the youngest in mindset, or rather, he was the one who was the least able to find his way, making him feel like a college student.
Cyclops is now the vice principal, helping the professors manage the entire school. Beast Hank is both a teacher and the core of the X-Men's research team. Angel Warren needs to help the academy on both a secular and financial level; after all, he's a rich kid. As for Iceman, he doesn't know what he should do; he doesn't even have a teaching certificate and can't be a teacher at the school.
Oh, and there's the piano, but the piano is dead.
That's why Iceman was overjoyed when he heard that the Avengers had a problem that "only Iceman could solve." Bored out of his mind, he immediately rushed over to the Avengers, which startled Cyclops, who wondered if the Avengers were trying to poach him.
"In short, you should trust the Sorcerer Supreme's spellcasting skills. My spells have never gone wrong—at least not when they're used to doing things properly."
Strange muttered to himself, ignoring the two people behind him, and began to cast a spell. A magical energy covered the three people's bodies, and then the three people quickly descended, soon passing over a large area of icebergs floating in the sea. These icebergs were directly connected to the seabed, preventing them from rising or falling, and inside them were Atlantean soldiers or generals.
Peter nodded to the Iceman, who then placed his hand on the icebergs, which melted completely within seconds, releasing the people inside.
"I must say, the captain's situation is an exception, and so is my ability. If someone gets into trouble, never do anything like cryopreservation; it's possible to freeze them to death and then never be able to release them."
Looking at the Atlantean army that was gradually thawing and still alive, the Iceman said with slight surprise, "Also, is this really magical ice? It just feels like ordinary ice."
"It is the Fimbulwinter brought about by the Winter's Treasure Chest that possesses magical power, not the ice blocks themselves."
Strange used a simple spell to convey the general situation to the Atlantean army. The leading Abyss Defenders immediately understood what had happened and began to organize their troops to prepare to return to the capital.
Whether they will be frozen again is hard to say.
The three continued their descent and soon arrived at the city of Atlantis. It was Peter's first time entering the deep sea. The city wasn't as ancient and sacred as he had imagined. Although most buildings were under 50 meters tall, it was remarkably modern. Since Kron intended to overthrow Namor rather than establish a new central government, the city's operations, while seemingly quiet, continued.
So Strange cast a cognitive filtering spell on them.
Surprisingly, almost everything here except the buildings is biological. The means of transportation is a flat fish, on which the Atlanteans installed various devices. Moreover, the same type of fish varies in size, from as small as a car to as long as twenty or thirty meters.
"Biotechnology—you can imagine their power generation devices. All kinds of production technologies are accomplished by modifying various fish in the seabed. The Atlanteans possess a completely different technology tree from those on the surface, and it is quite advanced."
The ice man floated to a streetlamp suspended in the city, glanced inside, and shook his head: "No, these lights aren't fish, they're just ordinary electric lights... but they're waterproof."
"If the lamp is also a fish, then it only proves that their technology has not progressed at all, man."
Peter sighed a couple of times, and the three of them immediately swam to the entrance of the temple. However, there were no more Atlanteans there. After they went inside, they encountered a group of guys wearing yellow protective suits. Peter was stunned for a moment.
"These are people from AIM, but AIM is no longer..."
"Move quickly! We need to dig this place up fast. If magic doesn't work, use bombs!"
A slightly comical but somewhat familiar voice appeared around him. Peter looked over and saw a huge head sitting on a floating chair, and the face of that head... was actually Killian, the former CEO of AIM and the developer of the Extremis virus?
