Chapter 30 Ellie's Departure
Chapter 30 Ellie's Departure
Early the next morning.
Lynn and his two companions met up with Elaine outside the South Gate.
"This is your companion?"
Elaine looked at Ellie, who was yawning, and Laofen, who was still munching on a cookie, with a somewhat subtle expression.
This team seems unreliable no matter how you look at it.
"Don't worry, it'll be useful in a critical moment."
Lynn patted Elaine on the shoulder. "Lead the way."
The Otto ruins are located in the deep mountains forty kilometers south of Krug.
The entrance is a half-collapsed stone gate covered with dark green vines.
"I've been here countless times, and I know exactly what's inside. Everyone, stick close to me."
Elaine drew her broadsword and walked in front. "The floor here is pressure-sensitive, don't step on it randomly."
Ellie swallowed nervously and took small steps forward, while Laofen warily surveyed the murals around them, ready to fight at any moment.
"So many skeletons."
Laofen pointed to a pile of white bones in the corner.
"Probably a former adventurer."
Lynn said, "If you don't want to end up like that, watch your step."
As you venture deeper into the ruins, the passageway widens, and strangely shaped stone statues begin to appear on both sides.
clack clack...
A piercing spinning sound suddenly rang out.
"Be careful!"
Elaine shouted.
The stone statues on both sides of the passage suddenly opened their eyes, flashing red light.
The next second, six gargoyles, brandishing stone spears, jumped off their pedestals.
"My left!"
Eleanor roared and charged forward, sweeping his broadsword across and smashing the head of a gargoyle.
"The right side is mine."
Lynn drew his twin swords, flashed into the horde of monsters.
"And what about me? And what about me?"
Ellie pulled out the broken iron sword and spun around in place. "Where should I attack?"
"Take care of yourself!"
Without turning his head, Lynn swung his sword and sliced off the wing of a gargoyle.
"Who do you think you are!"
Ellie felt slighted.
Just then, a gargoyle that had slipped through the net bypassed the front row and charged toward Laofen at the back.
"I'll kill you!"
Ellie's sword strike missed, but unfortunately, she lost her balance.
Seeing the gargoyle charging straight at her, she completely lost her composure.
Not good!
Just then, a figure entered her field of vision.
With a sweeping blow of his broadsword, the gargoyle was shattered.
It's Elaine.
He held the sword in one hand, and with the other, he shoved Ellie behind him. "Back off!"
After saying that, he let out a low growl, slashed his broadsword upwards, splitting one gargoyle in two, and then stepped forward, slamming his shoulder into the chest of another gargoyle.
boom!
The gargoyle was knocked back and staggered.
Eleanor gripped the sword with both hands, raised it high above her head, and brought it down heavily.
Click!
The gargoyle was split in two from head to toe, with rubble scattered all over the ground.
The battle is over.
Lynn had already taken care of things on his end. Since he could see 15 seconds into the future, he didn't need to worry about anyone being ambushed or accidentally injured.
The passageway fell silent again, save for the sound of Ellie's rapid breathing.
She collapsed to the ground, her face deathly pale, the iron sword in her hand still trembling slightly.
Just a moment ago, death was only centimeters away from her.
"Are you alright?"
Eleanor sheathed his broadsword, turned around, and extended his hand to her.
"No...it's nothing."
Ai Lili used the support to stand up, her legs still a little weak.
"Don't be so impulsive next time."
Instead of blaming her, Elaine shared her experience: "Gargoyles' joints are their weak points; you'll be at a disadvantage if you try to fight them head-on."
"You grip your sword too tightly, and your moves aren't flexible enough."
He gestured as he spoke, "Like this, keep your wrist loose, then tighten it when you exert force."
Ellie stared blankly.
This was the first time someone had taught her the details of swordsmanship.
"Thanks……"
Ellie lowered her head in shame.
"You're welcome."
Arian ruffled her hair. "Everyone starts as a newbie."
Lynn leaned against the wall, watching this scene without saying a word.
He could have easily saved Ellie in that instant, but he didn't move.
Some losses you only learn from by experiencing them yourself.
In addition, it wasn't that he hadn't thought about teaching Ellie swordsmanship, but his own dual-wielding style was directly instilled by the muscle memory of the statue, and he really couldn't translate it into verbal instruction.
"Can you still walk?" Lynn asked.
"able!"
Ellie immediately raised her head, sheathed her iron sword, and slapped her cheeks hard. "I'm the one who's going to slay dragons! What's this little thing!"
Although he said that, the feeling of powerlessness had already pierced his heart like sharp thorns.
If it doesn't become stronger...
Ellie glanced at Lynn and Ellene walking ahead.
If we don't become stronger, even just a little bit stronger.
From now on, they won't even have the right to stand behind them anymore.
"Let's go."
Elaine led the way again, "The main room is just ahead."
Ellie took a deep breath and followed after him.
The main room door is right in front of us.
The heavy stone door was half-open, and a musty smell emanated from inside.
Eleanor gripped his broadsword tightly with both hands and slowed his pace.
"Be careful, there's a big guy inside. I've almost died at his hands several times."
The voice just fell.
Rumble!
In the center of the main room, a pile of seemingly rubble-filled ruins suddenly began to move.
A five-meter-tall rock statue slowly rose to its feet, its two eyes glowing red.
"It's the Obsidian Golem!"
Eleanor's expression changed, and he quickly raised his broadsword. "With this kind of hardness, ordinary slashes are completely ineffective! We must attack its joints, or find its core!"
He then turned to Lynn, "Lynn, you're in charge of drawing its attention, I'll attack its legs, and that little mage girl will take care of..."
Before he could finish speaking, Lynn had already walked towards the enormous thing as if taking a stroll.
"Hey! Don't do anything rash!"
Elaine shouted anxiously.
The golem spotted the tiny provocateur, raised its arms high, and brought them crashing down with tremendous force.
The vision of the future before our eyes has already provided the best means of attack.
Right now.
Lynn lightly touched the ground with his toes, and his giant fist slammed into the spot where he had just stood, causing the ground to crack.
In the instant the dust rose, Lynn had already stepped on the golem's arm and was running upwards at top speed.
The golem sensed something was wrong and tried to swat away the insects on its body with its other hand.
Lynn ducked to avoid the sweeping hand and then jumped onto the golem's shoulder.
Clang!
The longsword was drawn, its silver light flashing.
Lynn gripped his sword in a reverse grip and plunged it fiercely into the slightly protruding rune stone on the golem's neck.
puff.
With a single stroke, it was as smooth as cutting through tofu.
As the runestone shattered, the golem's crimson eyes went out completely, and then it collapsed with a crash.
Lynn landed lightly, sheathed his sword, and didn't even catch his breath.
Behind him, Elaine remained in her commanding posture, her face full of surprise: "This...that's it?"
He had been preparing for twenty years and had considered countless hard-fought plans.
But this young man solved it in less than ten seconds?
"Otherwise what?"
Lynn chuckled, brushing the dust off her clothes. "Or would you like to dance with it?"
Ellie peeked half her head out from behind the stone pillar, looking at the fallen behemoth, then at Lynn who seemed completely unaffected.
The gap is too big, so big that it's despair-inducing.
"Let's go see the treasure."
Lynn stepped over the pebbles on the ground and walked toward the hidden door at the back of the main room.
Pushing open the hidden door, you'll find a small, secret room inside.
There were no mountains of gold coins, nor any glittering gems.
There was only a stone platform with a dusty wooden box on it.
With trembling hands, Elaine walked over and opened the wooden box.
Inside lay a pale blue crystal ball, emitting a soft glow.
"It's this...it's this..."
Elaine picked up the crystal ball, her eyes instantly reddening.
"The Blue Dragon's Tears truly exist..."
He knelt on the ground, pressing the crystal ball tightly against his chest.
"Great! Everyone... we're finally saved!"
Lynn walked around the secret room.
He rummaged through the rotten wooden box in the corner and then knocked on the wall.
Empty.
"No way?"
Lynn looked as if she were wearing a mask of pain. "That's it?"
Besides that broken crystal ball, there wasn't even a single copper coin?
This so-called great sage is far too poor!
"Hey, sir."
Lynn turned to look at Elaine, who was crying with excitement, and asked, "These are the many ancient magical tools you mentioned?"
Elaine wiped her face, somewhat embarrassed: "Rumors... after all, there might be some inaccuracies."
"That's such a huge margin of error!"
Lynn plopped down on the stone platform, feeling like he'd lost a fortune.
This trip yielded nothing except for killing a few stone monsters.
It's a losing proposition.
"that……"
Ellie, who had been silent all along, walked up to Ellein, suddenly bent down, and bowed.
Ninety degrees, as perfect as it gets.
"Please accept me as your apprentice!"
The sound lingered in the empty, sealed room for a long time.
"Taking on apprentices?"
Elaine was somewhat at a loss. "Little girl, don't joke around. I'm just a wandering swordsman. How could I be qualified to take on a disciple?"
Ellie immediately straightened up, looked directly into Ellein's eyes, and said with a serious expression:
Please!
Elaine looked at the stubborn girl, hesitated for a moment, then looked at Lynn, "She's your companion, isn't she?"
Lynn walked over to Ellie, reached out, grabbed her head, and ruffled it vigorously. "Have you thought it through?"
"Um."
Ellie didn't dodge, nor did she shout as usual.
"OK."
Lynn withdrew his hand and turned to look at Elaine. "Uncle, I'm leaving this girl in your care."
"what?"
Elaine looked completely bewildered. "You can't do this."
"What do you mean by 'you can't do that'?"
Lynn pointed to the empty secret room. "You see, it's dirt poor. I didn't get a single penny except for that crystal ball."
"Our agreement was that, apart from what you wanted, the rest would be mine."
Lynn spread his hands. "Now all that's left is air. I've lost out big time."
Arian was a little embarrassed. "This... I didn't expect this either..."
So that's why.
Lynn patted Elaine on the shoulder. "Consider this girl your reward for this job."
"ha?"
"Take her away, teach her skills, and feed her."
Lynn said matter-of-factly, "This settles the debt you owe me. How about that? Pretty good deal, right?"
Elaine was both amused and exasperated.
What kind of account is this?
But when he looked into Lynn's calm eyes, he understood.
This young man is paving the way for this young girl.
"OK."
Elaine sighed and nodded solemnly, "I'll take this deal."
Then he looked at Ellie and said, "From today onwards, you'll be working with me. Let me make this clear: my training is going to be very tough, and crying won't help."
"I'm not afraid of hardship!"
"Aili said excitedly."
"I hope so."
Elaine nodded.
……
As we left the Alto ruins, the sun was already setting.
That's enough for now.
Lynn stopped in her tracks.
Elaine carried a bag on his back and a broadsword at his waist, with Elli following behind him.
"Lynn..."
Ellie gripped the backpack strap, her eyes slightly red, "Goodbye."
"Seize the opportunity to grow, you silly girl."
"You'd better watch out, I might become even stronger than you someday."
"I'll be waiting."
Lynn smiled.
"Sister Raofen, take care of yourself too!"
Alli waved at Laofen.
Laofen smiled and waved in response.
