Chapter 374 Between Students
"Harry, did you hear? The first match will be held in the Forbidden Forest!" Ron muttered to Harry in the Gryffindor common room.
"Who told you that?" Harry asked, lowering his voice in surprise. "Hagrid?"
"That's him!"
"It really is Hagrid," Harry thought, somewhat unsurprised. He pursed his lips and asked, "Besides the Forbidden Forest, is there any other information?"
"It seems to be related to some kind of search as well?" Ron said uncertainly.
"Hmm—" Harry pondered for a few seconds regarding Ron's information, seemingly without any clue, so he changed the subject, saying, "Does Cedric know about this?"
Cedric Diggory will be Harry's teammate in the Tournament of Fire, but they haven't really interacted much since the Goblet of Fire confirmed the hero.
With the first match just a month away, they seem to be communicating too little as teammates.
"I don't know, but you should, right?" Ron said, shrugging. "Don't you know Hagrid's mouth?"
"Luckily, YaYa is just a dog, otherwise even YaYa might know about this kind of thing."
Ron's words elicited a soft chuckle from Harry, who then asked, as if remembering something, "By the way, where's Hermione?"
"Her?" Ron's expression turned strange. "Probably busy chatting with people from other houses?"
"What do you mean by 'other colleges'?"
"Demstrang or Beauxbatons," Ron said irritably, "because of that Pinecone Party thing—"
"It seems like they're trying to see if they can bring in people from other colleges as well."
"Is that so?" Harry nodded knowingly—what other houses? He hadn't even been invited in yet.
However, it's a bit of a pity—because Harry actually wanted to hear Hermione's opinion, since Ron's information was a bit too basic—and if Hermione were here, she could probably offer more advice, right?
Harry shook his head and sighed, then slumped onto the table, reverting to his listless state.
"So, what's wrong with you lately?" Ron asked, looking at him. "Whose business is it because of?"
"Sirius or someone else?"
"Yes, I have both." Harry pursed his lips. "Do you remember Karkaroff?"
"Ah—you mean that gloomy headmaster of Durmstrang, right?" Ron shrugged. "That guy who always acts like he's so great, like Lockhart, who's even uglier and more annoying."
"It's him." Harry couldn't help but chuckle at Ron's description. "The one who looks a bit like Lockhart."
"He recently told me something about Sirius—but he didn't explain it clearly." Harry said, looking at Ron. "He said Sirius is related to my father and me."
"He also said that Sirius Black was a Death Eater."
"Hmm?" Ron pondered for a few seconds upon hearing this, then said, "Actually, I'm not entirely sure about this either."
"Dad didn't tell us the specifics—but—what he said should be right."
"Sirius is definitely connected to the Death Eaters." Ron nodded. "We even saw the Death Eater symbol at the Quidditch World Cup!"
"Oh, right!" Ron raised an eyebrow, as if remembering something, and said, "You know, it was Professor Hamilton who protected me back then!"
"You've said this several times already," Harry said, pursing his lips. "Besides Sirius, there's Karkaroff—he really wants me to join Durmstrang."
"What?!" Ron slammed his hand on the table upon hearing this. "That wretched guy!"
"Did they know they couldn't beat Hogwarts, so they resorted to such underhanded tactics? How despicable!"
"He's not Lockhart, he's Peterson!"
"Keep your voice down, Ron—" Harry said, feeling a little embarrassed under everyone's gaze, "Anyway—he seems to really want me to join Durmstrang."
"Then you absolutely must not go."
"Of course I'm not going—" Harry said, slowly rising to his feet. "Alright, I'm going to find Cedric—he needs to know these things."
"Okay." Ron stood up and said, "Then I'll go with you."
While the boys were talking, several girls were also sitting together discussing something by the Black Lake at Hogwarts.
"So Professor Hamilton just defeated Voldemort like that, right!" Fleur sat there with her eyes shining, facing Hermione Granger and the daydreaming Luna Lovegood.
"Yes!" Hermione nodded excitedly. "They say Voldemort couldn't even fight back!"
"They were utterly humiliated by Professor Hamilton's silent spell, and even their attempt to threaten them with hostages failed!"
"Professor Hamilton is truly amazing," Fleur said enviously, pursing her lips. "We're both half-Vessels, I wish I were as amazing as Professor Hamilton."
"You can always do it with consistent practice," Hermione encouraged, though she thought it was unlikely.
"If I had the power of Professor Hamilton, I could definitely win too—" Fleur muttered unconsciously, pursing her lips.
"Victory—" Hermione then remembered that Fleur Delacour wasn't just a fan of Professor Hamilton; she was actually a hero of Beauxbatons—
So—maybe she knows something?
Hermione thought for a few seconds and then said, "The tournament must be even harder now, since before there were only three people, but now there are six—"
"Actually, it's not so bad." Fleur thought for a moment: "Emma is a very powerful wizard, and having teammates makes the first level seem less difficult."
"Hmm." Hermione's eyes immediately sharpened upon hearing this. She asked casually, "Teamwork is indeed very important, especially in more dangerous competitions—but if it's in the water or something, it would be terrible if someone couldn't swim."
"Not really," Fleur shrugged. "Even Durmstrang isn't that depraved."
"After all, carrying a bunch of stuff while dodging attacks in the water—that's Grindelwald reincarnated, isn't it?"
"I see—" Hermione didn't expect that her casual question would yield so much information. Carrying something while dodging attacks—it sounded like some kind of dodgeball game?
It was just to evade a curse —
While Hermione was thinking, Fleur shook her head and said, "Alright, let's not talk about these unpleasant things."
"Let's talk about Professor Hamilton! And Miss Lovegood, shall we talk about her too?"
"Hmm!" Hermione nodded, while Luna pursed her lips slightly.
"I have a feeling something bad is going to happen in the Forbidden Forest—the swarms of horseflies there are getting bigger and bigger."
