Chapter 67: Research
Chapter 67: Research
Late at night, Hogwarts fell into silence, except, of course, in Loila's office.
She sat in the chair, intently looking at the diary in front of her.
This is Mr. Riddle's diary... Loila is intently studying the magic circle on it.
After she arrived at Hogwarts, this was almost one of the only two ways she could relax after finishing writing back to her students; the other was lying on the grass of Nurmengard in the Space Stretch Book.
Mr. Riddle's diary was engraved with a variety of complex magic circles, but after this period of research, Loira was able to decipher the three magic circles that were previously known.
That is, the connecting magic array, the transmission magic array, and the memory magic array are separated... In this way, the magic arrays in the diary become much simpler.
These past few days she has been trying to separate the remaining magic arrays... It is a complicated process. The magic arrays are outlined and superimposed together, like repeatedly tangled threads, as chaotic as a spider web.
This was not a simple process, and even though Loila already had a good understanding of magic circles, it was still quite a waste of her energy.
Especially considering she was worried about attending class just a few days ago... But she was very lucky; Professor McGonagall granted her request and gave Loira a lot of memories all at once.
However, those memories are a bit too old... they are from when Professor McGonagall was still a student.
It seems I'm a bit out of touch with the times... Loila's pointed ears twitched, reminding her to snap out of her reverie and focus on the magic circle.
"Oh...it seems to have worked..." she muttered to herself, then held up the magic circle imprinted on the paper in front of her.
This is an extremely complex magic circle, more complex than any magic circle Loila has ever seen before... This is definitely not an ordinary magic circle.
I might make another huge discovery!
However… Loila patted her face to calm herself down; she couldn’t get too excited… after all, the purpose of this magic circle was still unknown.
The magic circle's function is related to the magic rune at its center, but unfortunately, Loila doesn't know the meaning of that rune either.
Therefore, there is only one way to find out what this magic circle is used for.
That was an experiment.
The function of a magic circle is determined through testing. My father said that the earliest magic circle experts discovered new magic circles using this method... and it was through this method that my father...
Loila pursed her lips, trying not to think about those sad things... Surely Mr. Riddle's diary doesn't have such a magic circle?
Based on my own experience, it shouldn't be the case...
She carefully held the imprinted magic circle, then raised her wand and flicked it to open the Space Extension Book.
To be on the safe side, she certainly couldn't conduct experiments in the office.
With a slight dizziness, Loila appeared under the tranquil night sky.
At this time, a small house had been built on the meadow of Nurmengard, a small two-story wooden house with a small yard attached.
A few purple cornflowers bloomed among them, interspersed with a few yellow golden lotuses.
These were Lord Grindelwald's favorite flowers, and also Loila's favorite... She remembered that these flowers used to bloom under the porch.
However, the flowers withered after the mother and father passed away.
Loila's slender fingers gently brushed across the petals, and she revealed a faint, somewhat hurried smile.
Then she took the magic circle and walked out of the cottage garden to an open space in the distance.
Next comes the infusion of magic power... Loila did not inscribe an energy storage magic circle on it, because even if the new magic circle is dangerous, the energy storage magic circle will continuously provide it with magic power.
This is not a good thing... Loila still remembers what happened when she was researching the memory magic circle last time. If she hadn't injected a small amount of magic into it... she might have been stuck in the memories of the past forever.
This is no joke... whether it's watching Durmstrang's story over and over again or watching the later memories related to Dumbledore.
This is comparable to some kind of torture... Perhaps Azkaban could learn from my magic circle?
Loila shook her head and gently raised her wand.
"Buzz!"
A transparent film appeared on her body, and at the same time, it surrounded her.
These are the Ironclad Spell and other protective spells; protecting yourself is the first step in the magic array experiment.
Unless it is a known magic circle, one must be careful when exploring a new magic circle... Loila shook her wand slightly, and a wisp of blue light slowly touched the magic circle.
"..."
Then came a moment of silence.
Loila stared intently at the magic circle with her blue eyes, not daring to blink for a moment, but nothing happened.
The magic circle was just glowing, but nothing actually appeared...
What does this mean? Is it some kind of protective magic array?
Loila flicked her wand, sending a stone drifting toward the magic circle, but unfortunately, nothing happened.
The stone simply tumbled a few times within the magic array after hitting the ground.
What does this mean?
Loila frowned and flicked her wand again, pulling a frog out of the grass. She looked at the croaking little creature in front of her.
She pursed her lips and placed it in the center of the magic circle.
But nothing happened. The frog just croaked twice and then hopped away.
It doesn't seem to be triggered by any living being... Loila was extremely confused.
What is the purpose of this magic circle?
Could it be that it emits light?
But the light isn't bright at all...
She watched the blue light slowly disappear, but she couldn't figure out what kind of magic array it was.
It's a pity my father isn't here... Loila sighed helplessly. If her father were here, he would know what kind of magic circle it was.
He's not like me... He lacks imagination... He's not very smart... And...
Wait, imagination!
Loila suddenly thought of her friend, Miss Lovegood.
Maybe she can discover something?
But it's getting a bit too late now... Loila remembered that it was already 1 a.m. when she came in, and she didn't think Luna would still be awake... So, how about tomorrow?
She had arranged to have dinner with Miss Lovegood, and she felt this might be a good topic of conversation during the meal.
As Miss Lovegood's friend, I also need to learn to find topics to talk about! Otherwise, all I can do is repeat the last few words of Miss Lovegood's words.
Thinking this, Loila picked up the magic circle, which had lost its luster due to the lack of magic power, and returned to her office.
As the book of spatial expansion closed, Loila stretched and realized it was getting late and she should rest.
Today was really tiring. I not only helped Mr. Lockhart, but also copied a new magic circle... and I also received help from Professor McGonagall.
That was really fulfilling...
As the candle went out, the diary on the table slowly opened, and then gently closed itself after a brief silence.
It seems like it was just a gust of wind.
