Chapter 26 Intruders Confirmed, Preparations Underway to Convert Cargo Ship

After a period of rest, Lorraine regained her composure.

Lorraine's lips twitched. "So the alien zombies are a group of beetles that may possess a high degree of socialization."

This is absurd! But why would they invade this area? Lorraine was completely baffled.

"Never mind, let's continue studying the map." Lorraine pulled herself out of her thoughts. Whatever the reason, the invasion of alien zombies was a foregone conclusion.

"Now that things have come to this, let's figure out how to fill the cargo ship's hold!"

Opening the map, Lorraine first marked the places she had visited with the types of supplies they stored. Then she began to check the types of factories in the surrounding area, as well as another road leading to the eastern storage area.

"Knock knock knock." Lorraine, who was deep in thought, was awakened by Ouyang Nian's knocking on the door.

"What's wrong? What happened?" Lorraine asked curiously, but Ouyang Nian didn't seem anxious.

"It's nothing, I just came to see how our captain is adjusting his mindset."

Ouyang Nian leaned against the doorframe and said with a smile, "Aren't you going to welcome me? Are you just going to make me stand at the door?"

"Not at all." Lorraine invited Ouyang Nian into the cabin, let him sit down, and then poured him a cup of hot water.

Ouyang Nian sat down at the table and saw the markings Lorraine had made on the data board.

"This is to prepare for continuing to collect supplies." Ouyang Nian saw through Lorraine's thoughts at a glance.

"Yes." Lorraine pulled out a chair and sat down on the other side of the table.

"There probably aren't many materials left in the warehouse."

"Indeed, we don't have much ceramic granules and engineering plastics left, but steel is still plentiful." Ouyang Nian calculated the remaining materials in the warehouse and continued:

"If we want to add armor plating to the cargo ship, the remaining materials are definitely not enough to cover the entire ship."

"There's a small warehouse area on this dock where we are, but the map doesn't show any other information about it. It's worth exploring, but it's troublesome and time-consuming."

"No problem, when do we start?" Ouyang Nian agreed with Lorraine's plan.

"How long will it take to convert the cargo ship?" Lorraine wanted Ouyang Nian to give a definite timeframe.

"It depends on what kind of opening and closing you want, whether it's left and right opening or forward and backward sliding," Ouyang Nian said.

"Which one do you recommend?" Lorraine asked rhetorically, after all, Ouyang Nian was a craftsman, and he didn't know much about this area.

"I suggest it opens to the left and right, so that the items that can be carried in the front part will not be affected. The only problem is that it lacks a motor," Ouyang Nian suggested, though he was somewhat hesitant.

"Take a look at the map and see if any of these factories produce motors. The warehouse area is mostly filled with raw materials; I didn't find any electric motors there before." Lorraine handed the data panel to Ouyang Nian, asking her to check if there were any factories producing motors.

While Ouyang Nian was searching for a factory, Luo Lin checked the status of Di Ting and Tian Gou through the eyepiece.

Listen: "Ammunition fully charged, ready to strike at any time."

Tengu: "Ammunition fully charged, currently charging, 80% remaining. Ready to attack at any time."

"Take a look at the map, I've found something." Ouyang Nian drew Lorraine's attention back and pointed to the map, saying, "These factories to the north all produce auto parts, electric motors, internal combustion engines, powertrains, almost everything."

Ouyang Nian paused for a moment, then continued, "I've also heard that they're building a high-speed transport ship, which might include engines for the vessel."

At this point, Lorraine froze: "Is it possible that our transport ship was used by them to test engines?"

"Why do you say that?" Ouyang Nian asked curiously.

"There's only one dock in the shipyard. When we came out earlier, there was a ship of the same type parked in the opposite direction from the gunboat," Lorraine said somewhat awkwardly.

"But we left the dock quite quickly, and we were turning, so of course you didn't see us."

"I'll go take the measurements first and figure out how to construct it. This process will take about an hour. You guys go to the dock and see if there's anything we can use."

Lorraine, carrying his weapon, stared at the two mechanical dogs.

"That's right, that's right." The Tengu felt it wasn't lively enough, so it started to stir things up along with Di Ting's words.

"You two, don't run away!" He was furious at the two mechanical dogs who had run off after making a fuss.

"I'll go scout ahead!"

"Who told you to be so slow?" The tengu stopped a short distance away, after all, it still had to protect Lorraine.

"Let's go!" Lorraine followed and patted the tengu's big head.
