Outside the shopping mall, amidst the howling wind and snow, came a muffled but rhythmic roar of an engine.
"Om - hum -"
The sound was much louder than when Su Hui modified the Hummer.
It is also more dense.
The crunching sound of the tracks crushing the snow was clearly audible, approaching the entrance of the shopping center from afar.
"It's a rescue team! It must be the official rescue team!"
Someone shouted excitedly.
"Thank God! We are saved!"
The survivors erupted in cheers, as if they had escaped death, temporarily forgetting the conflict and contradictions that had just occurred.
Even Ryan temporarily put aside the conflict before him, his face showing unbelievable joy as he tightly grasped his wife's hand.
Kenny and the restless men temporarily set aside their hostility, their eyes filled with anticipation and excitement, as if they had seen a glimmer of hope for survival.
Only Su Hui frowned almost imperceptibly.
Rescue team?
In such blizzard conditions, official shelters are overwhelmed and will send rescue teams here to provide assistance?
Could there be someone special among these people?
Su Hui's gaze swept over the changes in everyone's expressions, but he didn't notice anything unusual.
He could only come to the edge and look in the direction everyone was looking.
There was some commotion at the entrance of the passage.
Several heavily armored personnel carriers, clearly modified and covered in snow camouflage paint, were parked outside the entrance.
The car door opened, and a well-equipped squad quickly entered the shopping mall.
There were about thirteen people, all dressed in identical black snow combat uniforms, with a blurry, globe-shaped insignia on their chests.
They wore tactical helmets equipped with communication and night vision devices, and gripped assault rifles tightly. Their movements were silent and disciplined, a stark contrast to the ragged and agitated survivors beside them.
Su Hui's gaze fell on the logo on their chests—Universal Group.
A multinational giant that was already famous before the end of the world.
This force is not an official army at all, but a private armed force of a giant corporation!
What is their purpose here?
A hint of doubt arose in Su Hui's heart, and he observed the situation discreetly.
The armed squad quickly entered the shopping mall and dispersed in tactical formation.
One of the team members' eyes were immediately drawn to the tracked Hummer H2 parked not far away.
Its menacing appearance, heavy armor plates, and the weapon platform mounted on the roof all demonstrate the extent of its modifications.
He immediately used tactical hand signals to report to the team leader, who was the tallest and most imposing figure at the rear of the group.
The team leader's eyes were as sharp as a hawk's. When he saw Su Hui's modified Hummer, his eyes flickered slightly, but he didn't say anything.
The group spotted Ryan and his companions upstairs immediately and soon went up to the courtyard.
In the short time it took them to go upstairs, Su Hui gestured to Ryan beside him, preparing to leave with Harley and the other two girls.
Aside from Ryan and his wife, he didn't intend to have much contact with these people, whether they were survivors or the private army of this giant corporation.
As for Kenny and May?
Since Ryan had stepped in, he couldn't be bothered to pay attention. Just like a stray dog barking on the roadside doesn't necessarily warrant attention, he certainly wouldn't bite back like a dog.
Unfortunately, Su Hui wanted to let the stray dog go, but the dog still tried to bite him!
Just as Su Hui was about to turn around and walk towards the Hummer with Harley and the other two.
"Halt! Where are you going?"
Mei's shrill voice rang out again. Ignoring the pain in her abdomen, she stood in front of Su Hui, a twisted look of pleasure on her face.
"Want to leave? Not so easy! You hit me, and you're not leaving without an explanation!"
Kenny reacted immediately, raising his Glock again and locking the muzzle firmly on Su Hui, his attitude becoming even more arrogant.
It seems that the arrival of the rescue team gave them more confidence to cause trouble.
"Kid, Mei's right! If we don't settle this today, I'll blow your head off!"
The other survivors also gathered around again, eyeing them menacingly.
Su Hui's eyes turned completely cold.
A faint, almost imperceptible killing intent began to permeate the air.
Just then, the leader of the corporate unit walked over.
He was tall, with a steady gait, a stern face, and eyes as sharp as a hawk's.
He first glanced at the two sides, who were on the verge of exchanging blows, then his gaze lingered for a moment on the weapons in Su Hui and Kenny's hands before finally looking at the still-shaken survivors.
"Please remain calm."
His voice, amplified by the helmet's built-in megaphone, was clear and powerful, carrying an unquestionable air of authority.
"I am Cole, commander of the emergency response force of the Universal Group. We received a weak distress signal from here and have come to carry out a humanitarian relief mission."
He paused, his gaze sweeping over all the survivors.
"Please rest assured that Universal Group is committed to maintaining order after the disaster and protecting the safety of all survivors. We will provide you with the necessary assistance."
His tone was polite and professional, and his demeanor was impeccable.
The survivors were immediately excited when they heard the word "rescue".
Cole took off his helmet, but ignored the survivors and instead looked at Su Hui and his three companions.
Su Hui and his group were truly exceptional, completely different from the other survivors.
They were wearing warm clothes, which was good; they were also clean and tidy, and their mental state was far superior to that of the survivors.
Especially those three women: one was blonde and blue-eyed with a hot and alluring figure; another was gentle and intellectual with a calm demeanor; and the third was dressed in gothic attire, like a delicate doll, like a young lady.
They didn't look like they had experienced the devastation of the apocalypse at all.
The young Asian man who was leading the group remained silent, but his calm, reserved yet subtly oppressive aura made the man wary.
Considering the modified Hummer they saw when they entered the shopping mall, the answer seems obvious.
"Judging from your appearance, you don't seem to be survivors trapped here?"
he asked tentatively.
But before Su Hui could even speak...
Mei jumped out again, pointing at Su Hui with a tone full of malice and provocation.
"Commander Cole! You must stand up for us! This man! He's no good!"
"I just asked him for help, and he actually forced me to offer myself as his sexual fuel. When I refused, he started hitting me!"
She deliberately ignored her previous provocations and insults, pointed to the spot where she had been kicked, and twisted the truth, pushing all the blame onto Su Hui.
"I think he's just relying on his abilities to try and become a local tyrant! Look at those three women around him, they must be his harem that he stole!"
Mei's words were highly inflammatory and malicious. She not only wanted to retaliate against Su Hui, but also to incite the armed squad's hostility towards Su Hui. She even implied that Harley and the other two women were Su Hui's "trophies," trying to arouse the covetousness of these armed personnel.
In the apocalypse, beautiful women are also a scarce resource.
Su Hui remained expressionless, merely glancing coldly at Mei as if she were a clown.
He remained composed, wanting to see how the leader of the Universal Group would handle the situation.
Su Hui could tolerate it, but Harley couldn't.
"Bitch! Do you want to die?!"
Harley took a step forward abruptly, her golden ponytail swishing, her azure eyes burning with rage. She raised her hand and pointed the "Sweet" revolver at Mei, her face filled with undisguised murderous intent.
"Dare to slander my honey? Believe me or not, I'll smash your dog head in right now!"
Her manic aura and icy gaze made Mei take a step back, her face turning pale.
Seeing this, Kenny immediately stepped forward to protect May, glaring back at Harley with even more arrogance.
Hey! Watch your mouth, little girl!
He deliberately puffed out his chest, looked Harley up and down, pointed his Glock at Su Hui, and put on a mocking smile.
"Pretty hot-tempered, huh? But what's the point of following a coward who only hides behind women? Kid, have the guts to stand up for yourself. What kind of skill is it to let women stand up for you?"
He hadn't finished his foul language.
Ryan frowned, not expecting Kenny to persist. He was about to speak again to stop this farce.
Cole watched the scene with great interest, observing coldly with an expressionless face, showing no intention of intervening immediately. Instead, he focused his attention on Su Hui, seemingly wanting to see how he would react.
Just when everyone thought this would escalate into a more intense argument or standoff.
boom!
boom--
A sharp gunshot rang out, abruptly shattering the silence of the courtyard.
It's not Kenny's Glock.
It was Harley's uniquely designed "Sweet" revolver!
Harley's revolver wasn't a pistol; its power was comparable to a hand cannon. Almost the instant the shot was fired, Kenny's ugly black head was blown apart!
Blood splattered everywhere!
The mindless corpse fell with a thud onto the snow and debris, and then fell silent.
silence.
Deathly silence.
The only sound was the howling of wind and snow pouring in through the hole in the dome.
May, who was closest to Kenny, was splattered with the blood and gore of her beloved Black boyfriend!
The expression on her face instantly changed from smugness and resentment to extreme terror and blankness. She stared at Kenny lying in a pool of blood for a full two seconds before bursting into a piercing scream.
"Ah—! Murder! She's murdered someone!"
Ryan and his wife Elaine were also shocked.
Even Cole and his well-trained team members showed a hint of surprise in their eyes.
They clearly hadn't expected that this seemingly delicate blonde beauty would be so decisive and ruthless, firing her gun without hesitation!
However, what followed was even more chilling.
Harley blew on the muzzle of the "Sweet" revolver, her face grim, and strode quickly to Kenny's body.
To everyone's astonishment, she suddenly raised the baseball bat with the word "good night" printed on it in her other hand.
"boom!"
"boom!"
"boom!"
The baseball bat whistled through the air as it pounded repeatedly on Kenny's headless corpse.
The sound of bones breaking could be clearly heard.
"That'll teach you to be so foul-mouthed!"
"How dare you disrespect my honey!"
"How dare you look at us like that!"
"Trash! Useless! Dead Nig!"
Harley swung the baseball bat and slammed it hard against Kenny's body, making a dull thud.
