This explains why the building is so quiet, yet strangely eerie.
That thing is very likely still inside the building!
........
........
Meanwhile, on the first floor.
Brad, Chad, and Jamal were standing at the door of the dormitory manager's room.
The door to the room was wide open, and the sight inside caused Stacey to let out a suppressed gasp and quickly turn her head away.
The room was in a mess, with tables and chairs overturned and documents scattered all over the floor.
A middle-aged woman in a dormitory supervisor's uniform lay slumped beside a table, her body contorted, her head seemingly pierced and shattered by something, her skull blown off, red and white matter splattered everywhere, a bloody and horrific scene.
Chad and his two companions forced themselves to go inside, their eyes quickly scanning the room before finally landing on the female dormitory supervisor's gun holster.
Chad's eyes lit up, and he strode forward, roughly tearing off the holster.
Inside is a Glock pistol!
"Yes!"
Chad let out an excited growl, gripped the pistol in his hand, weighed it in his hand, and a ferocious smile appeared on his face.
Brad and Jamal also gathered around, their eyes burning with desire.
"Check if we have any bullets left!" Brad urged.
Chad removed the magazine, which was full of bright yellow bullets.
"Full magazine! At least fifteen rounds!" Chad's facial muscles twitched with excitement.
"That's awesome!" Jamal couldn't help but laugh. "With this, are we still afraid of that Asian kid?"
A glint of greed and malice flashed in Brad's eyes.
With guns, they had absolute confidence!
No matter how good Su Hui is at fighting, can he be faster than a bullet?
The three were so excited about acquiring powerful weapons that they completely ignored their surroundings. (The last two lines appear to be random characters and don't translate directly.)
Only Stacy, her back to the horrific scene in the room, was pale and trembling uncontrollably.
She always felt... that something was watching them.
In the darkness, there seemed to be rustling sounds, like something crawling quickly on the walls or ceiling.
“Brad…”
Stacey grabbed her boyfriend's arm, her voice trembling with tears.
"I think I heard something..."
"what sound?"
Brad, who was looking excitedly at the gun in Chad's hand, asked absentmindedly.
"It's...it seems like something is crawling..."
"Don't scare yourself, Stacy, it's safe here."
Brad went over and put his arm around his girlfriend's shoulder, comforting her, "We have guns now, there's nothing to be afraid of."
His attention was completely drawn to the pistol, and he paid no heed to Stacy's words.
Chad and Jamal, absorbed in the joy of acquiring weapons and the fantasy of controlling the future, paid no attention to the faint, strange noise.
Only Stacy remained, staring in terror at the corner where the ceiling and walls met, as if something was silently watching them from the dark shadows.
7. Scream
"what happened?"
Harley keenly noticed the change in Su Hui's expression. She followed Su Hui's gaze to the ventilation opening, but in the dim light, she could only see an ordinary metal grille and did not find anything unusual.
Her heart jumped involuntarily.
Su Hui did not answer immediately, but squatted down and gently brushed away the dust near the corner of the wall with the end of his spear.
Several fine but clear scratches were visible.
The mark wasn't deep, but its edges were sharp, like the imprint left by something climbing with extremely sharp claws, quite different from the blurry bloody handprints on the wall.
"Ventilation ducts".
Su Hui's voice was low and heavy.
"Something is moving using the ventilation ducts."
He stood up, his gaze sweeping across the ends of the corridor and the ceiling once more, his sharp eyes seeming to pierce through the walls.
"The silence in this building, and that strange, fishy smell..."
"This is probably not an ordinary zombie."
Su Hui’s tone was calm, but it sent a chill down Harley’s spine.
Mutant zombies.
A more powerful and dangerous existence.
Harley gripped the fire axe tightly, her knuckles turning white from the force.
Su Hui stared at the vent grille and analyzed, "If I'm not mistaken, these monsters..."
"what--!!!"
A piercing, distorted scream suddenly came from downstairs, instantly shattering the deathly silence!
It's Stacey's voice!
Next!
"Bang! Boom!"
A dull yet loud gunshot rang out on the first floor, echoing endlessly in the empty corridor!
Su Hui and Harley's expressions changed simultaneously.
problem occurs!
The two exchanged a glance, and without needing to say anything more, Su Hui immediately turned around and rushed towards the stairwell.
Harley followed closely behind, her heart pounding. Su Hui's earlier guess still echoed in her ears, and the gunshots and screams downstairs undoubtedly confirmed the worst-case scenario.
Just as their figures disappeared around the corner of the stairs, more and more frequent rustling sounds came from the depths of the third-floor corridor and from the ceiling above their heads.
It was as if countless creatures with sharp claws were being awakened in the dark labyrinth of pipes, crawling rapidly and making chilling noises.
The gunshots carried far in the darkness.
Outside the dormitory building, the zombies that had been wandering aimlessly, as well as the shadowy figures further away attracted by the firelight, were all startled by the sudden gunshot.
They stopped, their rotting heads slowly turning towards the girls' dormitory building, emitting low, greedy roars from their throats, and began to stagger towards this direction.
……
Not long ago.
First floor, inside the dormitory manager's room.
Jamal was standing on tiptoe, trying to reach a few bags of potato chips in a high cabinet, his face beaming with the joy of finding food.
Stacy, with her back to the horrific scene in the room, cowered beside Brad.
Chad excitedly examined the Glock pistol in his hand repeatedly, feeling the power and sense of security brought by the cold metal.
Just then, in the dim light outside the window, a blurry black shadow flashed past Jamal, who was standing by the window!
It was so fast it was almost an illusion!
"What……"
Jamal instinctively turned his head.
"Crack-!"
The window glass of the dormitory manager's room, which faces the corridor, suddenly shattered without warning!
Countless shards of glass flew inwards!
A long, scarlet, slimy tongue shot through the air like an arrow, piercing Jamal's abdomen in an instant! (Latest update from 705U.com: Post-Apocalyptic America: Synthetic 3D Female Lead)
"Uh!"
Jamal's joy froze instantly, replaced by extreme pain and disbelief.
He looked down at the disgusting, barbed tongue that had pierced through his abdomen and was still wriggling slightly, with blood dripping rapidly down its length.
A terrifying figure pried open the broken window frame and squeezed in. (The last line appears to be a nonsensical string of characters and doesn't translate directly.)
The monster's entire body was covered in dark red muscle tissue, its skin had completely disappeared, and its muscle fibers were clearly visible.
Its head was terrifying; where the eyes should have been, there were only two sunken holes, and the nose had also degenerated and disappeared. The most striking feature of its face was a huge mouth that stretched to its ears, filled with countless sharp teeth.
What's most alarming is its brain, completely exposed and throbbing slightly!
It lay on all fours, its fingers and toes with unusually large joints, and sharp, bony claws that gleamed with a cold light, firmly gripping the ground and walls.
Licker!
"Oh my God……"
Brad was closest to the monster, and the moment he saw its hideous face, he was terrified and scrambled out of the dormitory manager's room, rushing into the hallway.
"Ah—!! Monster!!!"
Stacy finally saw what the monster looked like and let out a scream that almost tore her throat apart. Fear instantly seized all her reason.
Chad was also stunned by the sudden turn of events and the monster's terrifying appearance; his hand holding the gun was trembling.
"Help...help me...Brad..."
Jamal coughed up a lot of blood, and the excruciating pain in his abdomen almost made him faint. He reached out to Brad and Chad, who had retreated into the corridor, his voice weak and desperate.
"Fire! Chad! Shoot it dead!"
Brad, pale-faced, hid behind the door frame and yelled furiously at Chad, who was still standing there in a daze.
Fear robbed him of his usual composure, and even his voice became distorted.
"Kill it! Quickly!"
Chad was awakened by Brad's roar. He looked at Jamal, who was being pierced by the tongue and struggling in pain, and then at the extremely terrifying-looking Licker that exuded a strong smell of blood. Overwhelmed by fear and the instinct for survival, Chad suddenly raised his gun.
He fired haphazardly in the direction of the Licker!
"Bang! Boom!"
The bullet whistled out, but due to extreme tension and trembling, it missed its target!
Of the three bullets, only one hit the Licker; the other two struck the wall and ceiling behind the monster, sending up shards and dust.
The wounded licker was not deterred; instead, it fueled its ferocity!
The licker let out a sharp hiss and suddenly shook its head!
The long tongue that had pierced Jamal's abdomen retracted like a whip, bringing out a large clump of blood and shattered internal organs!
"Pfft!"
Jamal's body was flung around like a rag doll, crashing heavily into the filing cabinet next to him before sliding to the ground and falling silent.
But the licker did not stop.
With a sudden burst of strength from its four limbs, it pounced on Jamal's fallen corpse like an arrow released from a bow!
The sharp claws stabbed down without mercy!
"Crack!"
There was a heartbreaking sound of bone cracking.
The Licker's claws pierced Jamal's skull, and red and white matter splattered everywhere, creating an extremely bloody scene!
