Chapter 484 - 228: Taking on the Burden, Great Success Level Dissection Method (Part 2)
Opening a new clinic room is not as easy as it seems.
Preparations in all aspects and approval procedures take time.
There was a sense of urgency in Director Hua’s words, and the Second Hospital seemed to be in a hurry over this matter.
After leaving Director Hua’s office, Li Jingsheng first went to the doctors’ office.
"Qinglan!"
"Here you are!" She looked up and smiled at Li Jingsheng, then glanced at Dr. Qin beside her.
Dr. Qin looked sullen but sensibly stood up and walked out of the office.
However, the hostility he once had towards Li Jingsheng in his eyes was gone.
He probably realized that he was not a match for Li Jingsheng.
If he insisted on going against Li Jingsheng, either he’d be transferred to a marginal position, or he’d be softly dismissed.
Both the hospital and the department would side with the doctor who offered greater value.
Li Jingsheng is an irreplaceable, scarce talent, while Dr. Qin is an easily replaced ordinary doctor.
There’s simply no comparison between the two.
Moreover, after yesterday’s events, Dr. Qin once again witnessed Li Jingsheng’s skills, and he had to admit defeat!
He came to terms with losing the chief physician position to Li Jingsheng.
"I have something to do today, so I can only stay for a short while,"
Li Jingsheng said to her.
"I heard that you successfully diagnosed the patient who was paralyzed in the lower limbs! Truly impressive!"
Her information was well up to date.
But given the size of the department, such news would inevitably spread quickly.
As they were chatting, Hu Jia walked in.
"Wow, seems like I came at the wrong time!"
Hu Jia was one of the outstanding young associate chief physicians in the orthopedic department.
He probably heard that Li Jingsheng was in the doctors’ office and made a point to come find him.
"Are you here to find me or Dr. Ou? Surely, your business is important."
Li Jingsheng stood up and said with a smile.
"Haha, I wouldn’t dare to find Dr. Ou, who doesn’t know by now that you two are a couple! Everyone envies your good fortune, winning over the prettiest female doctor in our orthopedic department."
Like many chief physicians, Hu Jia liked to joke with junior doctors.
"Here for me, then, what can I do for you?"
Li Jingsheng was very earnest in his attitude.
He displayed great humility.
"Nothing major, just wanted to tell you, at 4 p.m., we’re planning to operate on that patient with paralyzed lower limbs. Remember to come! I won’t interrupt your romance; I’m off."
Hu Jia waved with a smile and turned to leave the office.
His colleagues all chuckled quietly.
Li Jingsheng was quite thick-skinned, but young people dating is completely normal, nothing to hide.
Some of the directors and professors in their sixties and seventies still pester twenty-something-year-old girls with inappropriate jokes.
After chatting with Ou Qinglan for a while, Li Jingsheng got up to find Doctor Xu.
He made a call, and it was quickly connected.
"Xiaoli, what’s up?"
"Director Hua just talked to me, saying they plan to set up the Manual Reduction No. 2 Clinic and want me to take charge. I thought I should discuss it with you."
There was a pause for about three or four seconds on the other end of the line.
"Just agree to it; it’s a great opportunity for you. More chances to stand out can quickly boost your reputation. When you encounter challenging cases, you can always come to me."
Doctor Xu gave a straightforward answer.
It was clear that the hospital had not consulted Doctor Xu in advance but went directly to Li Jingsheng.
"Teacher, let me be frank. Setting up the No. 2 Manual Reduction Clinic does bring me many benefits, but I’m worried it might affect you. Honestly, the position at the Second Hospital doesn’t mean much to me. If the hospital tries to use you and then discard you, I’ll leave without hesitation."
This was the first time Li Jingsheng had candidly shared his thoughts with Doctor Xu.
In his heart, the bond with his mentor meant far more than his role as a doctor at the Second Hospital.
"You’re overthinking it. Dean Fu at the Second Hospital was in the military, and he’s a straight shooter. Director Hua and I have been friends for many years. Emotionally and interest-wise, they have no reason to harm me. In my opinion, the hospital is aiming for strategic growth, trying to expand its base. Just agree to it, and don’t overthink."
Though Doctor Xu’s tone was somewhat stern, his care for Li Jingsheng was evident.
After speaking, he hung up directly.
Doctor Xu has always been like this in his dealings.
Very direct, never dragging things out or being overly sentimental.
Li Jingsheng thought it over carefully and found that Doctor Xu was right.
After realizing there was no issue, he directly messaged Director Hua with his confirmation.
He used WeChat.
"Director Hua, I’m willing to take on this responsibility and give it a try! Doctor Xu has agreed."
"OK!"
He replied with an emoji.
By 4 p.m., Doctor Xu directly sent him to the operating room.
When Li Jingsheng entered the operating room, Hu Jia and Director Hua were already inside.
The patient had already been put under general anesthesia and was in a state of sleep.
"Dr. Li, don’t just stand there, you need to be proactive during surgery, understood?"
Director Hu said to him.
"Am I here to hold the retractor? I thought I was called to observe and learn from the sidelines!"
Li Jingsheng felt a bit embarrassed and instinctively wanted to raise his hand to scratch his head to relieve the awkwardness.
