Chapter 569: Sister Xue
Chapter 569: Sister Xue
No one could have known that Yang Qi would not only win, but that even the people from the Shuzhong Tang Sect would be unable to stop the young martial artist.
"Aren’t you going too far?" Yan Feng roared. "After all, we supported the Star Shining Society in the past, and now you treat us like this? You ungrateful wretch!"
"Ungrateful?" Yang Qi laughed. "Which one of you joined the Star Shining Society voluntarily? None! You were all my enemies, and I subdued you one by one. Now you’re talking to me about ingratitude? That’s laughable. Have you ever done a single thing for me?"
Yan Feng’s face flushed crimson. It was true. If not for Yang Qi’s supreme martial skill, he likely would have died in the True Martial White Tower, and none of what happened later would have occurred.
But he still couldn’t accept it. "We were wrong, and we admit it. But do you have to go this far? Must you wipe us out completely? Even though we sided with the Sea City Tang Family, we didn’t actually do anything."
"What else did you want to do? Kill me?" Yang Qi said sarcastically. "Yan Duo went to the Chenhe Group to bully my employees! Wang Teng made the Zhao Family kneel on the ground in humiliation! The Black Wolf Sect helped the Sea City Tang Family attack me, and you claim you’ve done nothing? Besides, even if you truly did nothing, traitors are traitors. What I detest most in my very bones are traitors!"
"Accept your fate! No one present is leaving alive. Ye Feng, take them away and deal with them!" Yang Qi shouted toward the outside.
Ye Feng immediately led his men in and dragged Wang Hai and the others away. Of course, some tried to resist, but it was useless. The strongest within these organizations were merely Tenth-Rank Great Grandmasters; how could they possibly compete with Ye Feng, a second-level Perfection Overlord? Their limbs were immediately broken, and they were dragged out to be dealt with.
Yang Qi was not one to kill indiscriminately. With the three main conspirators eliminated and their assets seized, the matter was concluded. He had handled things the same way back in Kang City, first eliminating the ringleaders and then confiscating their properties. With their assets gone, the remnants had no capital for revenge.
Watching this unfold, Zhao Haishan sighed endlessly. He had thought this would be a catastrophe for the Zhao Family, but unexpectedly, it turned out to be the curtain call for the Sea City Tang Family. When the factions in Sea City heard about the Tang Family’s calamity, they had no intention of helping. Instead, they descended like a pack of rabid dogs to carve up the Tang Family’s interests.
Yang Qi didn’t get involved. He simply confiscated all of the Tang Family’s properties in Jingnan Prefecture, keeping what the Qifei Group could use and selling the rest. For now, he couldn’t interfere with matters in Sea City. If the Tang Family, the weakest of the ten great families, was this powerful, the other families were surely even more formidable. His current focus was to secure his foothold in Jingnan Prefecture. He would plan his next move once things stabilized and his realm improved. After all, there were undoubtedly many others coveting Jingnan Prefecture.
「In the following days」
Yang Qi cultivated at the White Mountain Estate, hoping to break through to the next realm. The King of Jingnan, Heavenly Slaughter Sword, and others were also permitted to cultivate there, as they had chosen to stand with Yang Qi during the turmoil with the Sea City Tang Family. In fact, only the Jingnan Royal Mansion, the Lei Family, and the Kong Family had sided with him. The rest of the organizations had mostly remained neutral, offering help to neither side.
As a result, Yang Qi naturally rewarded these three families handsomely. The assets of the vanquished Wang and Yan Families were split between them and the Qifei Group, with only the scraps left over for the Zhao Family. He wanted to set a clear precedent, demonstrating his policy of rewards for loyalty and annihilation for betrayal. As for those who remained neutral, he would leave them be, but they would also receive no benefits.
This matter even caused a major argument between Chen Guo and the Chen Family Head. Chen Guo had wanted to help Yang Qi, but the Family Head chose neutrality, a decision that ultimately resulted in the Chen Family gaining nothing. The Chen Family Head was filled with deep regret over the massive opportunity they had missed.
After partaking in this bounty, the status of the Jingnan Royal Mansion, Lei Mansion, Kong Family, and Zhao Family in Jingnan Prefecture soared. The Chen Family was left far behind, unable to catch up.
Actually, the Chen Family wasn’t alone in their regret. The Wind Control Sect and Seven Swords Sect also regretted their choice. They never anticipated that the Sea City Tang Family would fall so easily and so quietly. Because of the Tang Family’s defeat, many organizations no longer dared to cause trouble in Jingnan Prefecture. After all, if they weren’t as powerful as the Tang Family, the consequences for them could be just as dire.
Thanks to this, Yang Qi found himself with much more leisure time. With the Star Shining Society’s backing, the Qifei Group’s development in Thunder City also proceeded smoothly.
「One day」
Yang Qi paused his cultivation. His inability to achieve a breakthrough left him feeling weary, so he decided to head out to clear his mind and check on the Qifei Group’s situation. As he drove up to the Qifei Group office building, he spotted a familiar figure.
It was a tall, fashionably dressed woman. She wasn’t stunningly beautiful, but she was attractive, and with her well-applied makeup, she could easily turn the heads of many men. Yang Qi recognized her as his college classmate, Guo Yuxue.
After parking his car, he walked toward her. Back in college, Yang Qi had been a top student but was also quite introverted. He didn’t have many friends, but there were a few he could truly confide in. Guo Yuxue was one of them. Though a girl, she possessed an indescribable sense of chivalry and had helped Yang Qi out of quite a few scrapes back then. Because Yang Qi had started school early, he was younger than most of his classmates, so he had always called her "Sister Xue."
"Well, who is this beautiful lady? Mind if I get to know you?" Yang Qi said with a smile as he came up behind her.
Guo Yuxue’s reaction was extreme. She immediately pulled out a can of pepper spray and aimed it at him. Fortunately, Yang Qi was fast enough to dodge, or he would have gotten a face full.
"Little Qi!" Seeing Yang Qi’s face, Guo Yuxue froze in shock. She hadn’t seen him since graduation. He had returned to Kang City to start a business, while she had stayed in Thunder City to work. Though they had kept in touch by phone, they had never actually met in person since. Even so, she recognized him at a glance.
"Sister Xue, aren’t you being a bit too vigilant?" Yang Qi asked with a wry smile.
"I have to be. Your Sister Xue was considered the class beauty back in the day, and this face of mine still attracts plenty of unwanted attention," Guo Yuxue joked. "But you... you’ve changed so much! The old you would never have teased a girl like this. It’s a good change, though. Otherwise, you might never find a girlfriend."
"Sister Xue, what brings you here? Looking to switch jobs?" Yang Qi asked curiously.
"No!" Guo Yuxue shook her head. "I’ve started my own company now, a packaging company. So I’m here to drum up some business. Qifei Group’s main business is pharmaceuticals, and where there are pharmaceuticals, there’s a need for packaging."
